I’ve signed up for the Heart Foundation’s MyMarathon challenge this May – and I’m writing to ask for your support.

MyMarathon is a virtual fundraising and fitness challenge where participants (that’s me!) run, jog or walk 42 (or more) kilometres in the month of May and ask our supporters (that’s you!) to consider making a donation.

Your donation will help the Heart Foundation fund life-saving heart research that makes a real difference for people living with heart disease, as well as to their whanau and communities.

We all know and love someone with heart disease, which is why I’ve been inspired to raise funds for Kiwi hearts this year. I hope you'll join me in supporting this really worthwhile cause.

Milford Track 2024. Amazing track with waterfalls wherever you look, some nice spots to swim and you feel so small in amongst some pretty big mountains. We got stranded an extra day due to rain but the clear skies we had for the remainder of our hike (which was pretty much all of it 🤣) were incredible to take in all the views.

Celebrated a 5th birthday yesterday and my homemade sushi and simple cake was an absolute hit! Didn’t have to spend hours creating a fancy cake that didn’t get eaten and had healthy snack options so the entertainer (Miss Twister) we had for games and balloons could spoil them with the lollies 🍭 What’s your go to party food for kids?

Being able to have a cooked breakfast can be considered a luxury by some. I can assure you that this delicious breakfast took less than 10 minutes to get on my plate from start to finish. I know that taking a few extra minutes to nourish my body in the morning will give me energy to do my work and make better food choices later in the day. Absolutely achievable for most people. For those that know me will know I prefer a savoury breakfast over your typical thought of breakfast foods. There is often a fight to get the leftovers first in my house but when there are no leftovers I need to create which is just throwing a few items together on a plate. Yum 😋.

I grew this avocado tree without even knowing it. It all started by putting avocado seeds in my compost, putting compost in my greenhouse and then a little tree appeared which I initially thought was a w**d until the seed was attached to the bottom of it 🙃. I potted it and have miraculously been keeping it alive. Any bets on how many years it will be before I see any 🥑??

I don’t travel often for work and I’m thankful for that as it’s not all it’s cracked up to be. Don’t get me wrong I love travelling to other places and being able to explore, seeing people I may not have seen for a long time, but the downside is definitely food (aside from not seeing family). I try to not spend much on food whilst away and I’m in motels so get a kitchenette. Here is an example of what I have…first is a photo of a bought lunch I did enjoy today - sundried tomato pasta with salmon from a local cafe within walking distance of where I am staying in NP. Then my motel room which has a lovely little bench to enjoy eating at, and the food choices I have with me….it’s been oats for breakfast with fruit, lunch option for tomorrow is tuna, rice and vege and dinners are a variety of soups, carrot 🥕 sticks for good nibbling on during the day. A little disappointed in this current motel in that it doesn’t provide me a couple of cookies 🍪to enjoy in the evening 🤣 but all other places so far have had some and have been a welcome treat
