We all love spotting the Peacock when he pays us a visit. He struts past our windows and over the deck, hoping for some treats on his way. He is a great source of interest and joy. If you're lucky, you will spot him during your next visit.

We recently marked National Awareness Week for Diversional and Recreational Therapy. This year’s theme was He Kākano, He Tipu – From Seed to Growth.

"Growth happens through care, nurture, and connection. Just as a seed needs soil, water, and sunlight, people flourish when they are supported with creativity, empathy, and companionship.” (Society of Diversional and Recreational Therapists)

Our activities team’s vital work helps our residents to feel good. It enhances their quality of life by building connection, bringing a sense of belonging and purpose, and helping to keep minds and bodies active.

Magic Moment:
Our activities coordinator brought out some wool and knitting needles and began knitting to engage the residents. Before long, she passed the needles to one of our residents, who took over with quiet concentration. As she worked, she shared that she used to knit many years ago and expressed how much she loved it. It was a touching moment of reminiscence and engagement, bringing back cherished memories through a familiar skill.

We hope you enjoy these photos from a sunny winters day. We enjoyed a peaceful walk, patting the sheep and taking in the breath-taking view at Paraparaumu Beach. Some of our residents lent a hand with the daily chores. It was a fulfilling day for all!
