This evening, join us for Hatha Yoga to activate your energy, get in flow, be embodied, and clear your mind. A perfect antidote for cabin fever.

Exploring the ajna chakra tonight, basic breathing methods, dynamic flow, and always deep rest at the end with a tuning fork and a singing bowl to assist.

Class starts at 5.30pm (75min)
Bring a mat, bolster (cushion/block) and a blanket if you have.

Welcome to Hikuai Yoga in 2025 (it feels like we have arrived in the future writing this date!), after a short glorious break, classes resume this week and I am looking forward to meeting with you in class again or for the first time.

As this new year unfolds, for those with the disposition will be planning, setting goals and intentions for this leg of the journey, and setting structures, daily practice and habits in place to support these aims, maybe yoga is part of this picture?

If you are looking for a supportive practice for your overall wellbeing yoga is worth investigating. It's a very wholistic practice and the health benefits of regular practice are undoubtable.

In these classes asana, meditation pranayama, mudra and mantra are explored.

Classes begin this week.

Teacher Bio:

I have a background of 20+ yrs experience in Massage therapy, working one on one with clients to help reduce pain and improve wellbeing through relaxation techniques, breathwork, bodywork, exercise prescriptions, and creating healthy daily routines and practices. I have studied the body indepthly, diving deep into anatomy and phsyiololgy, body mechanics, posture, the mind body connection, the emotions and energetics.

I have moved on from massage therapy now, however this was a perfect foundation for yoga teacher training, I began with my teacher training Anahata Ashram in Golden Bay, on top of a crystal mountain, where I learnt to teach Restorative Yoga and Yoga Nidra, I then went on to study Hatha Yoga, all within the Satyananda Lineage. I have completed 350hours of yoga teacher training and I have been teaching for about 6 yrs now.

Since my YTT I have completed a Shamanic Workshop Series with Chalice Malcolm, a 3 year course where I entered into a deeper connection with myself and the Earth, learning to listen deeply to the whispers of nature, and the whispers of my intuition.

The way I present and teach yoga naturally weaves in my learning and experience from my massage therapy career and my Shamanic training. In particular I promote RELAXATION, GROUNDING and SELF LOVE as vital components to the healing journey. There's simplicity in this as well as depth to explore, and we do in these yoga classes.

I also have an interest in astrology, especially following the solar and lunar cycles, and this is weaved in to class as well, learning to flow with the natural cycles of life.

As well as teaching yoga, I love to garden, I work at the Pauanui garden centre, so feel free to drop in and say hi!
