Tēnā koutou katoa,

Mountaineers four-year-olds enjoyed a wonderful adventure yesterday as we explored the beautiful Taitua Arboretum.

With the support of our fantastic parent helpers, the tamariki had the opportunity to fully immerse themselves in nature. We listened to the sounds of the creatures that call this special place home, discovered insects and birds, spotted a hole dug in the ground, and uncovered many other natural treasures throughout the forest.

We were also lucky enough to find a very special stone that had written on it…. ā€œBee youā€- by Taylor 2025. Thank you Taylor for leaving this treasure for us to find! A very special message to our tamariki that we should embrace who we are, you are awesome just being you!

Our focus has been around bugs and insects as this has been a current interest of our tamariki. What a fun way to conclude this theme, nurturing and engaging our children in their interests and passions.

As we near the end of the school holidays, if you are looking for some outdoor fun in the Waikato- please consider the beautiful Taitua Arboretum!

On rainy days, we bake šŸŒ§ļøšŸ„„
Today our tamariki embraced the magic of baking—stirring, scooping, and sharing the experience with one another. Moments like these foster independence, creativity, and a sense of belonging as children work alongside their peers. There’s nothing quite like the smell of baking and the pride on their faces when their hard work turns into something delicious to enjoy together.

Today during our four-year-old programme, we took a group of tamariki on a number and letter hunt within our local community. As we explored the surrounding neighbourhood, the children eagerly searched for symbols, excitedly calling out their discoveries and supporting one another in their learning.

Together, we noticed that numbers and letters are all around us—on vehicles, signs, buildings, and in many other places—helping to build our awareness of literacy and numeracy in meaningful, real-world contexts.

We also had the opportunity to connect with a friendly member of our community, enriching the children’s sense of belonging and confidence in social interactions.

How fortunate we are to enjoy these experiences and be actively involved in our community!

Busy hands and curious minds were hard at work today as the tamariki explored the art of potion making. Using shells, water, droppers, and natural materials, they mixed, poured, and experimented with great focus and intention.

It was wonderful to see such engagement, problem-solving, and independent exploration as the tamariki followed their own ideas and discoveries.
