Showcasing some of the lovely cards and messages we received from students at St Cuthbert’s College.

This was part of a student led school wide initiative called ‘Cards for Care’ where students wrote cards to provide encouragement and understanding to those currently in their eating disorder recovery journey.

Thanks again to the students who led this initiative and for all of those who took part, such a beautiful idea.

WARNING: THIS ARTICLE DISCUSSES POTENTIALLY TRIGGERING MATERIAL AND DISTURBING CONTENT.

This must provide an opportunity for series reflection on how we are failing many affected individuals and their families/loved ones, suffering from eating disorders.
I am bewildered as to how someone so in need of 24 hr specialist care ended up in a supported accomodation motel alone with no medical monitoring or treatment at all? This is a serious failing on many levels and demands change so this cannot happen again.
My deepest condolences to all those affected.

When documentary-maker Lauren Greenfield immersed herself in the online and offline lives of 25 teenagers, she unearthed a world of sexually explicit images, r**e culture, bullying and suicidal ideation. Adolescence, she says, has become like the wild west

WARNING: THIS ARTICLE DISCUSSES POTENTIALLY TRIGGERING MATERIAL AND DISTURBING CONTENT

It was difficult to re-post this article. I am torn between wanting to protect the family and not in any way risk re-traumatising them, and at the same time, I am shocked to read this.
I have decided to re-post because this situation cannot be allowed to happen in New Zealand. Something must change so that this can never happen again. Throughout my 25 years of working in this field, I have never known of a situation like this in New Zealand.
My deepest condolences to the family, friends, and all those affected by the loss of 'V'.
