Event 3: Walk the Line

A test of gymnastic skill and control under fatigue. Gymnastics skills increase each round, paired with short handstand walk sections that reward athletes who can stay composed.

RX athletes will cycle through toes to bar, pull up variations and a final set of bar muscle ups, broken up by 12 m handstand walks.

The workout flows through three rounds of rising difficulty, finishing with a final 12 m walk to the line. Control, pacing and clean movement standards will decide who comes out on top.

Scaled athletes follow the same structure with knee raises, ring rows, jumping pull ups and goblet lunges in place of the RX movements.

Skill, efficiency and composure.

Event 2: The Legacy Ladder

A classic ladder with rising weights, tight windows and a final one minute max attempt.

Scaled athletes will hit 2 cleans at each station.
RX athletes will perform 2 hang sn**ch + 1 full sn**ch before moving on.

Male ladder: 40, 50, 60, 70, 80, 90 kg, then max.
Female ladder: 30, 35, 40, 45, 50, 55 kg, then max.

You have 1 minute per station to hit your lifts and advance. If you miss the required reps, your score is the last completed weight.

At the final station, athletes have one minute to load their own bar and hit one max clean (Scaled) or one max sn**ch (RX). Multiple attempts allowed, but only lifts made inside the minute will count.

Strength, timing and confidence all under pressure. Full event standards will be released shortly

Event 1: Engine Eliminator

The Legacy Games open with a fast test across three machines. Three rounds, rising calories and an elimination format that rewards engine and composure under pressure.

Each division will complete Round 1, then Round 2, then Round 3.

Round 1 starts with 12 athletes.
The top 6 times move to Round 2.
The top 3 from Round 2 advance to the Final.
One athlete from each division takes the win.

Each round is a sprint. Hit the calories on the rower, ski and Echo Bike in order, then run to the finish. Athletes have a 2 minute working block to complete the round, which will act as a cap if needed. There is a 1 minute transition between rounds.

Three rounds. No hiding.

With the Legacy Games around the corner, it felt right to honour two people who left a mark on our community that will never fade.

The Glenda Torea Memorial will be awarded to the fittest female athlete.
The Adam Vardey Memorial to the fittest male athlete.

In true Glenda and Adam fashion, they would both hate the idea of a trophy, so we made sure to get the biggest ones we could find.

We look forward to putting these in the hands of the fittest athletes in Porirua for years to come.

Our program is built on strength. To meet the demands of functional training and life, you need a solid base. Strength gives you capability, confidence, and control in how you move. Try to force dynamic movements like weightlifting or gymnastics without the strength to back them, and you increase your risk of getting hurt. Build the strength first. Everything else stacks on top.

Strength matters for everyday life, too. Picking up your kids, carrying shopping, moving well at work, staying mobile, and being independent. Strength makes daily tasks easier and protects you from the small injuries that come from weak positions or poor mechanics. When you are stronger, everything feels lighter.

Constantly varied, not random. We build through structured, periodised training that keeps you progressing the right way.
