Your ears play a bigger role in balance than most people realise👂

With NASA’s Artemis programme in the spotlight, astronauts can feel dizzy in space because the inner ear relies on gravity to keep us steady.

Here on Earth, this system is just as important. During Falls Awareness Month, it’s a good reminder that your ears play a key role in helping you stay steady and reducing the risk of falls.

If you’ve noticed dizziness or changes in balance, it might be worth having your ears checked.

It’s Tinnitus Awareness Week, shining a light on a condition that affects nearly 1 in 10 New Zealanders.

This year’s focus is live music and tinnitus. From artists and industry professionals to gig-goers and music lovers, there’s growing awareness of how repeated exposure to loud sound can affect hearing health.

To keep enjoying the music and experiences you love without compromising your hearing, take a simple step like wearing ear plugs when you’re next heading to a concert.

For serious music fans or musicians, ask us about custom ear plugs for a perfect fit.

Happy Matariki!

You don’t need a big event to honour Matariki. Take a moment to reflect on the past, celebrate the present, and plan for the future – in your own way. Share a meal. Light a candle. Plant something new. Remember someone special. Make time for those you love. It’s not about doing more – it’s about doing what matters.

🌌 Matariki is best seen on a clear morning just before sunrise, low on the north-eastern horizon. Find out how to spot the star cluster here: https://youtu.be/VN7MkI53Gl0
