We're all wearing bright frocks today for the raffles at the Top Hut / 65 & Dine, with all proceeds going to the Ovarian Cancer Foundation NZ. Lovely to see other ladies frocking up as well. Come along next week to support the cause. Also remember to put the 31st in the diary for Frockoween 🎃🦇

FROCKTOBER DAY 10:
Windy spring day here! Feeling the need to wear my brightest frock today, and borrowed Mackenzie’s pink sneakers to match.

There is no definitive way to know for sure if you will get uterine cancer. Some people get it without being at high risk. However there are several factors that may increase the possibility that you will develop uterine cancer, including:
Age. People over the age of 50 are more at risk, BUT this cancer does not discriminate and people of all ages can develop uterine cancer.
Being overweight or obese. Fat tissues tend to produce higher levels of estrogen, particularly after menopause, which increases the endometrial cancer risk for older people.
Having been diagnosed with breast or ovarian cancer in the past
Having been diagnosed with endometrial hyperplasia in the past
Treatment with radiation therapy to the pelvis to treat another cancer
Taking estrogen medication by itself (without progesterone) for hormone replacement during menopause.

FROCKTOBER DAY 10
Is there an early warning test you can do for Ovarian Cancer. Unfortunately there isn't. This is part of the reason why the death rate for Ovarian cancer is so high. By the time symptoms really impacting women, the cancer is often quite advanced.

Friday funday and I'm in an old favourite today to work from home.

For those in Twizel we'd love to see you at the Top Hut 65 and Dine tonight for raffles with donations going to the Ovarian Cancer Foundation NZ. See you there

FROCKTOBER DAY 9
Is there anything you can do to reduce the chance of getting ovarian cancer?
🔹️Birth control pills reduce ovarian cancer risk by up to 50% if used for 5+ years.
🔹️Pregnancy and breastfeeding are also protective.
🔹️Tubal ligation and removal of the ovaries or fallopian tubes significantly reduce risk.

I'm in the pink today. This has been a workhorse in my wardrobe for a few years. Easy one and done dressing!

FROCKTOBER day 8
Talking about some more risk factors today.
🔹️ Never having been pregnant is a risk factor.
🔹️ Early menstruation (before age 12)
🔹️ late menopause (after age 55) increases risk.
🔹️ Use of hormone replacement therapy (HRT) after menopause may also elevate risk.

A gingham moment today. I love that is uses a different sizes of gingham on the hem (and the sleeves that you can't see)

FROCKTOBER DAY 7
What are the risk factors for ovarian cancer?

Family history (BRCA1 or BRCA2 gene mutations) significantly increases risk.

A woman with a BRCA1 mutation has a 35–70% lifetime risk of developing ovarian cancer.

Enjoying the sunshine today 🌞

FROCKTOBER DAY 5
How common is ovarian cancer?
Every day, someone in New Zealand is told they have ovarian cancer.

Ovarian cancer is the fifth most common type of women’s cancer and the fifth most common cause of cancer death in women; more people die from ovarian cancer in New Zealand than from cervical, uterine, vulval and vaginal cancer combined.

Those are sad statistics, hence why all the Twizel Frocktober are frocking up. We need to change those statistics.

Another cool day. October is a good month for Frocktober as the weather is so changeable that I get to wear winter and summer frocks. Got on my merino layers today

FROCKTOBER DAY 4. Ovarian cancer is a gynaecological cancers which are cancers that start in parts of the female reproductive system. Others include:
cervical cancer
uterus cancer
vulval cancer and
vaginal cancers.
Like the rest of your body, the female reproductive organs are made of tiny 'building blocks' called cells.
Gynaecological cancers begin when these cells grow abnormally.

It's a grey damp day so I'm coated up today. I love a frock and maxi coat moment.

FROCKTOBER day 3. Did you know that 1 in every 70 women will get ovarian cancer. Wow! Take a moment to think of how many women you know, and how many could be impacted.

Please share what you learn this month. We know that ovaries weren't always suitable dinner table conversations but we have period ads all the time now. Talking about the symptoms might save a friend or family member so be brave, have those o***y conversations. 🫂

This colourful frock has been in my wardrobe for a few years. Love me a bit of colour lol

FROCKTOBER Day 2! Starting with the basics - what is ovarian cancer? It's a cancer that begins in the female organs that produce eggs (ovaries). Ovarian cancer often goes undetected until it has spread within the pelvis and stomach. At this late stage, ovarian cancer is more difficult to treat.

I'm living loud today in the pink and orange. I love this colour combo.
