Hoping you all had a wonderful Christmas and wishing you all the best for 2025. Celebrate safely Franklin. Because the first Thursday of January is a public holiday there will be no unit tour. We will return in February as usual.

Here at Pukekohe Birthing we provide 24 hour care for pregnancy, labour and birth, and in the days following birth. But we are not an emergency department or a full hospital. Urgent Care is on Glasgow Road but not open overnight. Overnight is Middlemore. Unfortunately there is currently no overnight urgent medical facility in Franklin.

National Safe Sleep Day was last week and we had four Merino sleeping bags to give away. The safe sleep message is always important but perhaps more so in winter when you feel the need to snuggle your little one close. Remember all babies/infants need their own safe sleep place without pillows and toys. Keep their face clear and away from smokers. Lying your baby on her/his allows the gag reflex to work properly and the throat to be clear. We supply pepe pods and wahakura but may be able to help you source a cot as baby grows.

Fundraiser for Breast Cancer Research Pink Ribbon appeal. Pukekohe Primary Birthing Unit have been gifted a trio of original, unique artworks to auction for this worthy cause. We have so many friends, family and colleagues affected by this terrible disease and this art is inspired by the memory of one brave woman. Created for this campaign, these three abstract pieces are framed and each measure 32cm x 32cm (frame size). The artist is a Franklin resident and ALL monies raised go to Pink Ribbon Breakfast. For sale by silent auction. Text your best bid to Clare on 021834031. The bidding closes at 10am on Tuesday 28th May 2024 when Pukekohe Birthing will hold a shared morning tea. Text updates will be given in case you want to better your offer. These beautiful artworks can be seen at Pukekohe Birthing Unit. Be generous: the cause is good and the art is worth it.
