MEASLES OUTBREAK ALERT IN NZ

Measles spreads fast — it can stay in the air for 2 hours after an infected person leaves. One case can infect up to 15 others if people aren’t immune.

WHY IMMUNISE?

- Measles isn’t “just a rash” — it can cause pneumonia, brain inflammation, and be life-threatening.

- Two doses of the MMR vaccine protect you for life.

- Immunising helps protect babies, vulnerable whānau, and our whole community.

WATCH FOR SYMPTOMS:

- Fever, cough, runny nose, red eyes

- Tiny white spots inside the mouth

- Red blotchy rash starting on the face and spreading down the body

If you or your child show symptoms, stay home and call your health practitioner before visiting.

Check your records — if you haven’t had two MMR doses, it’s free from your local health provider.
