After successfully distributing 3,355 free EpiPens® to people with allergies who are at risk of anaphylaxis, our latest FundaPen campaign has come to an end.
The $350,000 donation from Pub Charity has now been exhausted and there are no free EpiPens® left to be distributed by Queenstown Pharmacy. Normal prescription protocols for adrenaline auto-injectors will once again apply.
Both of our FundaPen campaigns have been hugely successful in raising allergy awareness of the burden for families living with the risks of anaphylaxis, a serious form of allergic reaction.
More than 6,300 Epipens were distributed throughout our FundaPen 1 and 2 campaigns, and Pharmac launched a public consultation in September this year to gather feedback on their new proposal to fully fund two adrenaline auto-injectors per patient, per expiry period.
Allergy New Zealand would like to thank Pub Charity and all the primary and tertiary care prescribers throughout the country who supported the initiative.
Allergy NZ looks forward to Pharmac’s final determination and working with them to get the funded pens to those who need them.
