We are open to support our Queenstown community today - 9am to 6pm✨✨

As the stars of the Matariki cluster rise in the winter sky, they signal a time of remembrance, reflection, and renewal across Aotearoa. Matariki is a special period that connects us to the land, the sky, and each other, through a series of events, traditions, and celebrations that are deeply rooted in Māori culture.✨✨

From 1 July, there will be a $5.00 charge for each new prescribed medicine, unless you fall into one of the following groups:
- Aged 13 years or under
- A Community Services cardholder (or a dependent child of a cardholder)
- Aged 65 years or over
- Hold a Prescription Subsidy Card (PSC)

This $5 charge applies only to new prescriptions and does not apply to repeats on the same prescription form. If you or your family receive 20 new prescription items within a year, you can obtain a Prescription Subsidy Card. With this card, you won’t have to pay any additional prescription charges until February 1 of the following year. Ask your pharmacist for more details.

Please note that prescription charges written by private specialists and private dentists remain unchanged at $15 (for adults) or $10 (for ages 14-17). However, these charges are reduced to $5 if you have a High Use Health card or if your oral contraceptive was prescribed by a private specialist. Additionally, they remain free if you have a community services card.

Nicotinamide Mononucleotide (NMN)
NMN supports the formation of NAD+ which is a co-factor in energy production and the activation of sirtuins.

Nicotinamide Mononucleotide (NMN) is a molecule which can be found in small quantities in various foods. It is well researched due to its involvement in our body's synthesis of NAD+.

NAD+ is a vital co-factor for cellular energy production. As we age, our NAD+ levels decrease, which results in the activity of proteins known as sirtuins, becoming dysregulated. Optimal activity of Sirtuins is crucial for the function of our cellular powerhouses, mitochondria.

As a consequence of these effects, our body has less energy and cellular processes related to cell death, aging, gene expression, metabolism, inflammation and DNA repair are impacted.

NMN has gained a lot of attention as a favorable candidate to overcome this deficiency, with over 300 research papers published on the molecule and its relationship with NAD+.

NMN can assist with NAD+ availability due to the molecule being a direct precursor to NAD+. Supplementation of NAD+ provides our body a source to create more NAD+ to keep the wheels rolling in our cellular processes for energy production

Updated XBB COVID vaccine available from 7 March.

Pharmac has approved the updated COVID vaccine for the XBB.1.5 strain to be used in New Zealand from 7 March 2024.

The XBB vaccine is more effective against more recent subvariants of COVID in New Zealand.

The vaccine will be available to:
• everyone aged 30 years and over,
• people aged 16-29 who are pregnant, and
• people aged 12-29 at higher risk of severe illness from COVID.

If you’re eligible, it is recommended you wait at least 6 months since you had any other COVID vaccine or infection.

The XBB vaccine is especially recommended for those who are more likely to get seriously unwell if they get COVID. This includes:
• people aged 65+
• Māori and Pacific people aged 50+
• residents of aged care facilities
• severely immunocompromised people
• people aged 12+ who have a medical condition that increases the risk of severe illness from COVID.

People who have had the previous COVID-19 vaccination are still expected to have protection against severe disease from recent Omicron subvariants.
