We are hiring a casual Chef

Are you a compassionate and skilled chef who enjoys preparing nutritious, home-style meals? We are seeking a Casual Chef to join our caring team at our rest home facility, providing wholesome and delicious meals for our residents.

About the Role:

As a Casual Chef, you will:

• Prepare and cook balanced, nutritious meals tailored to residents’ dietary needs

• Follow specialized dietary requirements (e.g., soft diets, diabetic-friendly meals)

• Maintain high standards of food safety and hygiene

• Assist with menu planning in line with nutritional guidelines

• Ensure meals are served on time and presented attractively

❤️ About You:

• Previous experience as a chef or cook (experience in aged care is an advantage)

• Understanding of dietary requirements for elderly residents

• Food Safety Certificate (or willingness to obtain)

• Compassionate, patient, and team-oriented

• Reliable and flexible with casual shifts

We’re reaching out for some urgent support. We need someone to step in and cover one of our laundry team members for the next 6–8 weeks.

On a 8 day rotating roster you would be required to work two days at 4hrs per shift. Flexible start time. More days are available when covering others on leave.

The role involves working in our onsite laundry, including:

• Washing all linen, resident clothing, and kitchen items
• Drying, folding, and returning items to resident rooms or designated areas

Full orientation and support will be provided. Immediate start available.

Father’s Day BBQ Celebration – Today at Raglan Rest Home & Hospital we fired up the grill and gathered together to celebrate the incredible fathers, grandfathers, and father figures in our lives. The Father’s Day BBQ was filled with laughter, great food, and warm conversations — a chance to honour the men who’ve shaped lives with love, wisdom, and quiet strength.

A special highlight was the live music duet called Two of Hearts, featuring a talented saxophonist whose smooth tunes had toes tapping and across the courtyard. Residents, families, and staff alike swayed along to the rhythm, creating a truly heartwarming atmosphere.

Thank you to everyone who helped make the day special, from the kitchen team to our wonderful staff and volunteers. And most of all, thank you to the dads — your stories, smiles, and spirit are what make Raglan Rest Home and Hospital feel homely.

This position combines the purpose of a Diversional Therapist and the creativity of an Activities Coordinator. It’s ideal for someone who understands both the therapeutic value of recreation and the magic of community engagement. Whether you’re registered with the NZ Society of Diversional and Recreational Therapy or you’ve built experience coordinating activities in aged care, your passion for enriching lives is what matters most.

Key Responsibilities:

• Create & Deliver activity programs that support emotional, physical, and cognitive wellbeing
• Facilitate group sessions like music, movement, crafts, gardening, reminiscence therapy, and outings
• Provide One-on-One Engagement tailored to resident interests and abilities
• Coordinate Events that celebrate culture, seasons, and individual stories
• Collaborate with clinical and care teams to ensure activities align with individual care plans
• Encourage Participation and adapt approaches for different cognitive or mobility levels

Ideal Skills & Experience:

• Experience in aged care preferred but not essential

We are seeking a talented and flexible Chef to join our team on a short-term basis, with the potential for a permanent position. The successful candidate must be willing to work weekends and be capable of preparing meals for 45 residents at our Rest Home.

Responsibilities:
- Prepare and cook nutritious meals for 45 residents, ensuring all dietary needs are met
- Maintain high standards of kitchen hygiene and safety
- Collaborate with staff to create a pleasant dining experience

Requirements:
- Proven experience as a Chef, ideally in a similar setting
- Ability to work weekends and adapt to a flexible schedule
- Strong understanding of food safety and kitchen best practices

Positions Available: We will consider up to two positions, either full time, part-time or casual applicants
