I’m not the best at keeping up with socials but you can always rely on me doing the work behind the scenes.

Here’s a current updates on the goings on ………

I’ve opened up some more availability for my postnatal care due to demand - as a reminder for those who might be new to the page, this is bulk billed, in home (your home), quality and personalised midwifery care by me. I’m your experienced and passionate local midwife. No referral needed but I welcome them if you have one. As often as you need me.

TO BOOK - JUST MESSAGE ME and I’ll be seeing you in no time. Evenings and weekends included if that’s what works for you and your family.

Calmbirth Education - Official classes are launching soon. These will be presented as both group sessions and private classes so you can choose what’s right for you.

Lastly to comment on the photo - a personal glimpse at my first born child. I have been so blessed to have her as my inspiration to always be a better human. She made me a mother for the first time. She was the inspiration to pursue my career as a midwife. We’ll be blowing out 13 candles on her cake next month. 13?!

My biggest supporter who reminds me after the long days that women and their families need great midwives in their corner. We’re lucky on the Gold Coast to be in the company of some fabulous midwives.

So it’s a cheers to my first. I will never forget her newborn snuggles and when she arrived in a hurry, mid snow storm in the night 😅

After being involved in a car accident recently (not at fault, kids not in the car, im ok) I discovered Hannah, from GC Baby Hire. She provided me with car seats for my little ones while I sorted out my insurance claim to have them replaced.

The best part was that Hannah delivers them to your door.
Something that as a busy mum of 3 is a game changer.

Very easy process. She does other hireage items too.

The season of ❤️ is upon us once more. I hope you all get spoilt 🌹

Another week and another heatwave 🥵

The Australian Breastfeeding Association has provided some tips to stay cool 😎

Side note : one of the lovely new mums I’ve been seeing purchased an octopus fan from Temu, the legs wrap around anything to stay in place. USB charged. It made me smile🐙 🪭

Side note part 2 : that 1800 number on the bottom is a 24/7 help line if anyone ever needs it at anytime. Middle of the night calls are their specialty 🤗

Final side note: in between some lawn bowls games (I know I’m so cool 😎) over the weekend I’m out visiting mamas on Sunday. If you need a visit, just message me and I’ll come to you - bulk billed until baby is 6 weeks 😍

Volunteers needed

Last year I became a franchisee for Calmbirth. Before I officially launch into class bookings I need volunteers who are happy to participate in a trial class.

What’s in it for me? - a chance to run through my program and new slides/material with couples before opening my bookings for the year. Check it flows right and make any tweaks needed.

What’s in for you? - free Calmbirth education valued at $595. First to see my Calmbirth program.

The catch? - I require a feedback form that will go to Calmbirth HQ to complete my educator requirements prior to launching.

Weekends, evenings, full day session or partial. With your partner, with other pregnant friends, in your home.

I am delighted to announce that my postnatal services will now be bulk billed.

FAQ

Does this change the care?
- Not at all. My average visit time is 60 minutes. Those who have experienced my home visits in the past can attest to this.

Why not charge the $200+ consult fee?
- Truthfully, it didn’t feel right. I want everyone to be able to experience the care, compassion, and expertise of their own private midwife. Cost is the number one barrier for families accessing private care. I’ve removed this barrier. 💪

Am I eligible for bulk billing?
- If you have a current green (or comparative) Medicare card, then yes 🙌. If unsure, I’m happy to check your details in the system for eligibility prior to my visit.

How many visits can I have bulk billed?
- How many would you like? 🤗. Full postnatal packages are included, which comprise of 10 visits on days 1, 3, 5, 7, 10, 14, 21, 28, 35, and 42. I’m excited for you!! Casual and one-off appointments are also available, as well as phone and video consults.

Bookings are currently open for the first half of the year, with a limited number of exclusive, in-home postnatal packages available each month.

The face behind the name

Hello 👋

Those who have known and followed my page for a while now, thank you 🙏 (previously Rural Midwife Rachel from the Home & Waterbirth team in Canterbury, NZ)

Those who are new here, welcome 🤗

My name is Rachel and my midwifery career started after the birth of my first child back in 2013.

I consider midwifery a true calling of what I want to be. To be able to give to others in this most magical yet vulnerable and challenging space in women’s health is what I love doing.

Arriving on the Gold Coast in 2021 I’ve been a proud midwife and educator to hundreds of Gold Coast families at Pindara Private Hospital.

You can still catch me at Pindara on Mondays and Tuesdays but the rest of the week I’m working in the community alongside women, families, babies.

Do you or someone you know need to experience an exceptional level of midwifery support without the need to leave your home?

From one-off visits to tackle a particular issue to a fully exclusive postnatal care package. I would be honoured to share this journey with you.

I have some space available over the festive season for postnatal and breastfeeding support.

The work behind the scenes has been non stop however it’s also been purposely slow, well measured and deliberate.

I’m so proud to present my next offering to families here on the Gold Coast.

Before I dive deeper into what this looks like I’m starting with the logo story.

There’s an amazing woman who I confided in for all business and big life decision making who helped me create this logo. This was just before she passed away 6 months ago.
My eldest daughter then put her spin on it. A friend of mine then made it useable.

Elements and colours used that encompass the stunning part of land that is the Gold Coast. It had to be a circle to symbolise support, circle of life, pregnancy and breastfeeding. The wattle carries such strong cultural and national heritage. Yellow, gold and green. It makes my heart happy.

So I now share with you my passion for exceptional women centred, evidence based care……….Gold Coast Midwifery & Lactation is born.

Eeeeeek!!! Squeal!!! Oh my!!!

If any of my superstar amazing page followers are still here since I jumped over ditch…….to you I say thank you ☺️

I’ve been busy, still midwife-ing, studying (again 😅🤦‍♀️), expanding the family etc etc

However, I have some super duper exciting news brewing that I can hardly keep contained. Waiting on the final I’s to be dotted and T’s to be crossed 🤞
