MediMap Platform Outage

You may have seen recent media coverage about a cyber incident affecting MediMap, a medication management system used across Aotearoa.

As a precaution, MediMap has been placed into maintenance mode while national investigations and data integrity checks are carried out.

At Hauora Hokianga, MediMap is used only for a small number of long-stay residential patients. There is no impact on general practice patients or our community clinic services.

As soon as we were notified, our clinical team activated our Business Continuity Plan and returned to established manual medication systems, including verified paper medication charts and pharmacy confirmation.

🩺 Medication administration continues safely.
🛡️ There has been no interruption to care.
💛 Patient safety remains our highest priority.

National investigations are underway involving:
- Health New Zealand - Te Whatu Ora

- Office of the Privacy Commissioner (New Zealand)

- New Zealand Police

We are awaiting further confirmation from MediMap regarding any specific data impacts. If any confirmed privacy impacts affect our residents, we will contact whānau and EPOA directly.

We understand news like this can cause concern. Please be assured our teams acted promptly to ensure continuity of care.

If you have any questions, please contact us directly on 09 405 7709.

Ngā mihi nui,
Hauora Hokianga
