A very big thank you to the Sew ’n Sews Quilters group, who came into our Takapuna site to deliver their latest quilts – 35 in total! These represent so many hours of work for the small group, who produce around 80 quilts a year to give to our patients. We are so fortunate to have their support. This is Lynn (far left), Christine (2nd from right) and Diana (far right) from the group with our Inpatient Unit Team Leader Charlotte and Volunteer Services Manager Vicki. This year we have a whole new line-up of homes and gardens, among them Richard and Leigh Fisher's, a relaxed, pavilion-style home with stunning views of the Omaha River, set on 10 acres of beautifully planted land. In between, recharge at the Point Wells Town Hall at our Homes & Gardens Hub, where you’ll find morning & afternoon teas baked fresh by our Hospice chef David, coffee and food carts, raffles, plant stalls, art & craft, silent auctions, bbq treats from the Warkworth Butchery and a beautiful green space for picnicking.

Thank you very, very much to Nasir and the team at Z Energy, the teams at Albany, Glen Park, Northcross. Sunnnybrae and Warkworth Z stations and everyone who dropped their orange token into our box during Good In The Hood. You raised a total of $8090 for Harbour Hospice, which will go a long way towards supporting our services, which are free to those who need them. Thanks to you we care for one in three people who die in the community, ensuring dignity and comfort at a very difficult and profound time in people's lives.

👀 Many eagle-eyed Browns Bay locals have spotted us setting up our new home. That’s right - after 12 years in our current spot, the building is up for sale, so our Harbour Hospice Shop is on the move!
Thanks to the incredible generosity of our landlord, volunteers, donors and shoppers, we’re heading into a bigger, brighter space and we can’t wait to welcome you through our doors.

This is more than just a move - it’s the start of an exciting new chapter for our community. We can’t wait to throw open the doors and welcome you all in very soon…stay tuned! ✨

There are three days left of Wills Month - September - to get your free will. We've partnered with local lawyers Denham Bramwell Lawyers (Albany & Whangaparaoa), Simpson Western North in Silverdale and Paxton-Penman et al in Warkworth so that you can create a Will, or amend a simple Will, for free, when you leave a gift in your Will to Harbour Hospice. 🩵

As little as 1% of your estate can make a real difference to hospice services.

👮‍Cop by day 🤣 comedian by night, Sen. Constable Hamish Buick from Warkworth will argue that old age is NOT a blessing at The Great Comedy Debate (a fundraiser for Harbour Hospice) on 4 October at the Warkworth Town Hall. The well-loved community cop, who has dedicated 31 years of service to the community, first became involved in this very funny event 6 years ago when organiser Murray Chapman asked for a local police team to join the debate. "He thought we'd be boring and it would be an easy win for the Toastmasters but we trounced them!" he says.

🤣 This year his team mates are Murray and More FM Rodney 88.9's Nick Rado - and they're up against actual comedians Hoani Hotene, Jeremy Elwood & Lana Walters. Daunting to many, but he's up for the challenge, and his colleagues at the Warkworth Police Station back him. In fact, they reckon he just keeps getting funnier with age! ☀

We don't know why or how, but we often turn up for work dressed the same at hospice! Yesterday it was all aroha & hearts at Tui House - with Emily, our fundraising and business development specialist and Catherine, our assistant Garage Sale shop manager, bringing beautiful pink love hearts and brightness to an otherwise grey day in Warkworth! 🩷🩷🩷

A huge thank you to organiser Yvonne Payne and all those who supported Yvonne's recent Wedding Dresses Through The Decades fundraiser for Harbour Hospice at the Ōrewa Arts & Events Centre. It was an incredible night, combining glamour, fashion, humour and great entertainment. The event raised $27,000 for Harbour Hospice patient and family services, with a highlight being the unveiling of “The Private Collection” from Vinka Design , featuring original gowns by pioneering NZ bridal designer Vinka Lucas MNZM.

Special mention to Gold Sponsors House of Travel Orewa, Hibiscus Funeral Services, Triton Hearing, Metlifecare Retirement Villages Gulf Rise and Kensington Park Orewa, plus supporter Whangaparaoa Rotary.
