Many hands make light work! ๐Ÿ‘On Saturday we had a working bee ๐Ÿto help tidy up our gardens at our Hibiscus Coast site. ๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€๐ŸŒพ๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€๐Ÿ”งIt was a fantastic day, with around 50 staff and their families turning out to w**d, mow, trim, prune & mulch. Our garden volunteers, who we're grateful to have come in every Weds, were thrilled to have the extra help and the day was made even more special when a patient came out of the Inpatient Unit to admire our work. You could see how much the gardens meant to him, and that was what it was all about. ๐ŸŒป๐ŸŒป

We had hospice doctors, nurses, counsellors, social workers, volunteer services team members, fundraisers, members of our senior leadership team and more mucking in. Just awesome! ๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€๐ŸŒพ๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€๐Ÿ”ง

๐Ÿ””MediMap Update

As you may be aware, unauthorised activity was identified within MediMap, resulting in some patientsโ€™ demographic records being incorrectly modified.

MediMap is a digital platform used by Harbour Hospice (and many aged-care providers nationally) to streamline prescribing, dispensing and administering medication.

The platform is currently offline and in maintenance mode as a precaution, while the issue is being investigated alongside Health NZ.

Please be assured that patient confidentiality and safety remains our highest priority. Our teams have moved to our well-established manual systems to ensure medications continue to be given safely and on time.

โ€œAs a doctor, I expected that I would be able to do everything for Mum. But hospice allowed my sister Moana and me to just be her daughters, and that was such a gift. We could just hold Mum and witness her being cared for so beautifully and respectfully.โ€ ๐ŸŒป๐ŸŒป

In our latest newsletter Whangฤrei-based doctor, Danielle, talks about being so moved by our care of her mother, Elizabeth, she held a fundraiser that saw her shave off all her beautiful, long hair.

Thank you!!!! 33km of incredible coastline covered and $16,403.60 raised for Harbour Hospice in the Harper Digital Coastal Challenge on Sat 14 Feb. We've been an official charity partner since 2012 and the event has raised more than $350,000 for Harbour Hospice to date. How amazing is that! ๐Ÿคฉ

A huge thank you to event organisers, Aaron and the crew at Total Sport NZ, to Babcock Australia & New Zealand, who raised more than $10,000 of the total, Rapid Relief Team NZ who raised just under $2500 with a sausage sizzle at the finish line, all the awesome volunteers, including Devonport Rotary Club NZ & North Shore Rotary, who marshalled the event, and lastly to our own people who took part. ๐Ÿฅฐ

We entered four teams who came from all over our service - from our Inpatient Unit nurses to hospice shop managers, our senior leadership team and volunteer services crew. We were not the fastest, but we had a blast! It was a real day of connection, camaraderie and pushing ourselves out of our comfort zones as we contributed to raising vital funds for Harbour Hospice. ๐Ÿƒโ€โ™€๏ธโ€โžก๏ธ๐Ÿƒโ€โ™€๏ธโ€โžก๏ธ๐ŸŠ๐ŸŠ

Looking forward to doing it all again next year. Thank you for your support, everyone! ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿ™

This is us every Tuesday morning at our Red Beach site. ๐ŸŽผ๐ŸŽผ'Start Your Day The Waiata Way', led by our awesome social worker, Tracy, is one of the ways we honour our commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and our bicultural partnership with Mฤori. We love it! 15 minutes of singing at the tops of our voices - with our dulcet tones echoing down the hallways. It's joyful and uplifting & then we walk out of that room feeling completely connected, ready to support the beautiful tลซroro/patients and families and whฤnau in our care. In this video we're singing Purea Nei, which is one of our favourites!

Just three Saturdays to Art Affair! Sat & Sun 7-8 March at Tui House, Warkworth. Featuring 15 fantastic artists, including the clever and creative Laura Tait from Laura Tait Photography - Puhoi Farmhouse, who creates stunning floral artworks by photographing the flowers she grows in her garden.

Her work is inspired by Dutch Masters floral paintings, and sheโ€™s passionate about showcasing flowers in their natural authenticity, without digital or AI manipulation. People assume she's an experienced gardener, but Laura only took it up 5 years ago - after convincing her partner to dig up their front lawn! ๐ŸŒท๐ŸŒน๐Ÿฅ€๐Ÿชป๐ŸŒธ๐ŸŒป๐ŸŒผ

After careful consideration, weโ€™ve made the difficult decision to close our Te Hana Shop, with its final trading day being 18 April.

Workforce, operational and financial pressures have made it increasingly challenging to sustain the shop long term, however our commitment to Te Hana and the wider Warkworth/Wellsford community remains strong.

We want to acknowledge our small but dedicated team of volunteers, led by Manager Melissa Hunt, along with the incredible support of our community and landlords. You are the reason this shop has been able to operate for so many years.

๐Ÿฉท THANK YOU! ๐Ÿฉท Every purchase and every donation has helped make hospice care possible for hundreds of tลซroro/patients, their families and whฤnau - and that impact will be long-lasting.

From 28 February, donations can be dropped at our Wellsford and Warkworth shops, with Wellsford moving to six-day trading from May.

You can read more in the full media release on our website.

On Saturday, 18 of our awesome team members will push themselves to their limits to fundraise for hospice patient & family services in Total Sport NZโ€™s Harper Digital Coastal Challenge 2026. The Challenge is a gruelling 33km race along the coastline, starting at Arkles Bay and finishing at Devonport.

Our team (the photo shows last year's) is made up of people from all facets of our organisation from clinical to operations and retail, & while we won't be the fastest, we'll have a lot of fun! Itโ€™s a day of connection, camaraderie and pushing ourselves out of our comfort zones as we support each other round the course while raising vital funds for Harbour Hospice.

A big shout-out to Total Sport, who've raised an incredible $330,000 for Harbour Hospice to date through this event, the volunteers who'll be marshalling on the day, the Babcock Australia & New Zealand team, who've raised $6200 for us already and we havenโ€™t even crossed the start line! And Rapid Relief Team NZ, who'll be running a sausage sizzle at the finish line.

If youโ€™d like to support us by making a donation, weโ€™d be chuffed. Hereโ€™s the link โ€“ and please share with your family and friends! https://2026coastalchallenge.grassrootz.com/harbour-hospice/hospice-hobblers
