Running tips for local beginners!
Starting your running journey? If you’re hitting the trails in Riverhead Forest or Woodhill, let’s make sure you’re set up for success. Here are 4 beginner-friendly tips to keep you moving safely:
🛑 1. Don’t overdo it
Rest days are just as important as run days. Aim for 3 runs a week and let your body rebuild.
🏋️♀️ 2. Strength training helps
Even if you’re focused on endurance, strength training boosts performance and prevents injury. We’ll help you find and fix weak spots.
🌿 3. Choose wisely: shoes & surface
Trail terrain like clay and gravel can be slippery and uneven. Good shoes with grip and support are essential, especially for those lung-busting climbs!
⚠️ 4. Know the difference between sore and injured
DOMS (Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness) is normal. It's that achy feeling 24–48 hours after a workout. Lingering pain isn’t. If something feels off, come see us early - it makes all the difference.
Running trails in Riverhead and Woodhill are stunning but demanding. We’ll help you train smart and stay injury-free. Need help with footwear or foot pain? We can refer you to a trusted podiatrist to support your stride.
