Nutrient rich, safe foods meal prep for the baby who still can’t have any of his allergy foods and isn’t crazy for textures 😮💨 is the third child easy…. Yes and no.
Homekill beef, store bought tomatoes, homegrown carrots potatoes pumpkin Silverbeet kale cabbage, herbs and rice.
No legumes this time round, the poor boy eats them nearly everyday 🫘
He’s not crazy for chicken or anything super chewy like steak or chops…. But the man has loved his mince since the first time we introduced it to him! He loves it, it doesn’t try to kill him (anaphylactic), texture is perfect. It’s his favourite safe food and if you know mr sir you know he hasn’t got a lot and we struggle a lot of the time with them. Also thank you GG for always having his mince in freezer when we go round to yours or a pot on the stove ready for him xx

A 21 year old mum to my gorgeous daughter Scarlett and we are both deeply in love with my partner Nick
April 1st 2017 was moving day and we had one go to pack everything in the hired trailer and our two cars... along with 1 cat and a bunny. My mums dog quickly joined our home within a month of us moving in and since then we have acquired 4 chickens, a lamb and another cat... I'm still working on getting a pig but with the MULTIPLE times of asking Nick its always a very clear “No mickenzi”.... I'm not giving up though, he’ll give in one day ;)
Long story short, I got pregnant again and let me tell you!!!!... it was not an easy road wow. Got diagnosed with Post Natal Depression, OCD and anxiety.. on top of that I had two miscarriages, a few vaginal surgeries and nearly the whole of the Ashburton and Christchurch Doctors practices, emergency rooms, Gynaecologists and obstetricians who have seen or felt my down stairs... (not the whole of that area but it sure felt like it..) But a miracle happened and I'm happy and healthy again and feeling like a baby elephant with this pregnancy so all is good again and we will be welcoming our wee rainbow baby into this world in July!
So yeah, I'm stuck down south and I'm a pregnant, stay at home mum who is sad to say that she has very little friends where we live and had been locking herself inside with the feeling of boredom...Well a few months back my Grandma who I dearly love and consider to be my best friend rang me and smacked me in the face (metaphorically) with words of encouragement and said to get outside!!!! Haha so in no way was I going to argue with the lady and I dressed my mini me up warm (we were heading into a cold winter) and walked outside and starting pondering round kicking stones and talking to Scarlett who would respond back with gibberish, but hey I wasn't fussy with who i spoke to in this lonely time. While looking at plants I had never seen in my life we walked into a overgrown raised vegetable bed. I kinda stood there and pouted my lips and thought “okay, I'm really good at vegetable gardening so why not save some money by growing food to feed to my family and it might also pass some time?”
Well, I went full force into buying seeds and a few seedlings to start me off. I found myself out there most days with soil stains on my clothes, yanking weeds, lugging pig compost too and from the garden bed in a wheelbarrow (taken from my mums house in Christchurch) all day long, with my mini me following me close behind with everything I did. Within a few weeks I had found my long lost love for horticulture and nothing was gonna stop me. I was so charged with adrenaline and a huge garden full of vegetables that my family of three couldn't possibly keep up with, I decided why not make some money of this and sell it to family friends? And that is how Guruonthefarm came about. The demand for Organic Vegetables grew (thanks to my mum who helped get the word out) and people wanted to know more about organic anything! But all along while I had been putting my body through stress and unusual substances on my skin, I flared up with Eczema (had it since I was a baby) and my sensitive skin was literally turning into open ripped skin sores and OMG was I in pain and the need to itch was sky high! I had tried every skin cream prescribed from the doctors and nothing was helping me to feel relieved or even keeping my skin condition at bay, so I Googled natural homemade lotions, creams, body washes, deodorants even toothpaste and found that there were a lot of people out there struggling like me with skin conditions. So I headed into Bin Inn and the supermarket and bulk brought natural ingredients that I took home and started experimenting with and Voila! I produced natural, organic AND zero waste products that actually healed my skin.
I had saved up a grand from my working days at a pizzeria and sat myself in front of my laptop for a good solid week and created a website for Guruonthefarm and purchased more and more ingredients to get my business up and running and along the way i started making and purchasing zero waste, sustainable products that benefit the consumer and our beautiful MOTHER EARTH.
Which brings us to today, my gardening is full of seasonal Organic vegetables that I sell to locals and family friends in a veggie box. While also educating people about the importance of saving our planet and not using single waste products I sell reusable, sustainable, organic products like toiletries (bamboo toothbrushes, menstrual cups, soaps etc), kitchen utensils (reusable straws, tea balls), reusable fabric produce bags, mini succulents! The list just goes on and on.
I can now say that I am a happy, young, successful business owner with a passion for what I do and stand for. I love talking about how I'm helping the planet but also making myself a better person physically and emotionally.
Thats all I have to say for now, Thank you for giving up your time and diving into my life. If you enjoyed reading about my experience and or even want to chat or purchase something from Guruonthefarm please give me a message :)
