🎯 SETTING HEALTH GOALS FOR 2026? START SMART 💪

If improving your health is on your 2026 goals list, setting SMART goals can make all the difference. SMART goals help turn good intentions into habits you can actually stick with.

Here’s a simple way to shape your health goals this year 👇

✔️ SPECIFIC
Instead of “get fitter”, try “walk for 30 minutes, five days a week”.

✔️ MEASURABLE
Choose something you can track, like drinking eight glasses of water a day.

✔️ ACHIEVABLE
Start where you are. Small, realistic goals build confidence and momentum.

✔️ RELEVANT
Focus on what matters most to you, whether that’s more energy, better sleep, or less stress.

✔️ TIME-BOUND
Give yourself a timeframe, for example, “book a health check by February”.

Progress doesn’t have to be perfect. Small steps add up over time. Here’s to a healthier, happier 2026 💙

📣 IMPORTANT UPDATE: MANAGEMYHEALTH 🚨

ManageMyHealth (MMH) has identified unauthorised ransomware activity within the My Health Documents module of the ManageMyHealth app. This activity was the result of a criminal cyberattack.

WHAT THIS MEANS FOR OUR PRACTICE

MMH has confirmed that the services connecting ManageMyHealth to general practice systems were not impacted by this incident. Our clinical systems, practice management systems, and day-to-day workflows remain secure and unaffected. There has been no impact on patient records held by our practice.

WHAT THIS MEANS FOR OUR PATIENTS

MMH is currently contacting affected users and has advised that approximately 6–7 per cent of users are impacted.

If your information was involved, MMH will contact you directly with confirmation and next steps. This process is managed entirely by MMH, and our practice does not have access to additional information about the incident or affected users. This sits outside of our control.

MMH has published answers to common questions, including why communication timing can vary and what terms like “accessed” mean. You can read more here:
https://managemyhealth.co.nz/faqs-cyber-breach/

We understand that news like this can be concerning. If you are feeling distressed and would like to speak with a clinician about your wellbeing, our reception team can help you make an appointment.

☀️ STAY SUNSAFE THIS SUMMER 🏖️

With the weather heating up, here’s a friendly reminder on how to be SunSmart this Kiwi summer 👇

👕 SLIP on some protective clothing
🧴 SLOP on sunscreen
👒 SLAP on a wide-brim hat

And remember, choose a sunscreen with at least SPF 30, broad-spectrum protection, and water resistance. Apply it 20 minutes before heading outside and reapply every two hours.

Movember might be done, and the moustaches might be gone, but the need to look after yourself remains the same.

And as you clock up a few more birthdays, there are a couple of extra checks worth keeping an eye on too. Think of it like giving yourself a WOF, just without the hassle of finding a park.

🎄 FEELING THE YEAR-END RUSH? 😴

The lead-up to Christmas can feel full on, and it’s easy to get swept up in the busy days and long to-do lists.

If things are starting to feel a bit heavy, take a moment to rest or ask for support. Sometimes, a short pause is all you need, and things feel easier when you don’t carry them alone.

Be kind to yourself as we head into the holiday season. ✨

☀️ HELLO SUNSHINE? HELLO SUNSCREEN! 🧴

Summer is on our doorstep. Here's a friendly reminder to keep your skin protected by:

🛡️ Using lots of sunscreen and reapplying it often.
Any parts of your body that you cannot cover need sunscreen. Rub sunscreen into clean, dry skin 20 minutes before going outside.

✅ Choosing the right sunscreen.
Always use a broad-spectrum, water-resistant sunscreen with SPF 30 or higher.

🥄 Using enough sunscreen.
Aim for about one teaspoon for the major parts of your body, including each arm, each leg, your front and your back.

📆 Checking your sunscreen's expiry date.
Expired sunscreen will not protect you.

Here's to enjoying the sunshine safely and making the most of the warmer days ahead.
