We started off as a group of 6 like-minded individuals coming together to form something bigger than all of us. From this coming together, the Healing Sanctuary was created, and from that came Beacon.
The Healing Sanctuary is our bigger concept from which will eventually spring our literal Healing Sanctuary from which all manner of healing modalities will be made available to everyone as well as trainings in these modalities for anyone anywhere who may want to learn more. It will eventually be a place for retreats, ecotourism, rongoa (traditional Maori medicines)/herbal medicines and practices (although these practices will not be solely those from New Zealand alone as we are very well aware of the diversity of healing practices from around our wonderful planet, and for those visitors to our shores, the Healing Sanctuary can be a place where they can come and teach us and where we may be able to impart some of our own indigenous knowledge to them.
Currently we are looking at procuring some land in the Mamaku hills just outside of Rotorua where we can start to manifest this dream. As this begins to manifest itself, we will let you know.
Beacon is a retail and service shop in the heart of Rotorua city where we offer a variety of health and healing related products - some we bring in from outside, and some we make ourselves. As we have started to grow, becoming more and more known around the region, the shop has become a focal point for like-minded people to come together and meet to talk and to practice their various healing modalities. We have resident readers, a herbal consultant, crystal and energy healers, mirimiri/massage practitioners, sound therapists using the didgeridoo and those using Tibetan singing bowls and crystal bowls. We also have our ever popular meditation evenings on a Tuesday night, as well as a musicians’ ‘jam’ session on a Monday evening for those who would like to turn up.
