What’s one thing that yoga has helped you with ?

A busy day in the maara. 🌿 Finished with some yoga - shavasana on the grass, head to knees and Pawanamuktasana also known as ‘Rotations’ - shoulder, neck, and a few side bends. Followed with Prānāyama- breathing practice- yogic breath mostly. Simple is often the best. 🌿
Yoga and gardening both lead us into flow states…🌻🌻🌻 a connection between head, heart, hands - and Papatūānuku.
Week 6 of Yoga for Wāhine tonight- only two more classes for 2025 after this! Wow another year of yoga completed- making it 26 years ✨
A new beginners course will be released soon🌻🌸🌿 follow for more details about Te Kākano - the seed, soon.

Prānāyama- Yogic breathing - is the Gate Way to the mind body spirit 🤍 Connected to your nervous system, vagus nerve and emotions.
Release tension with the breath, gain focus, reset your nervous system, find calm or connect to your essential self, what is the greatest gift of prānāyama for you?

Seasons ~ the yoga journey is not linear, there are seasons, times to renew and reset, begin again, learn something new or go deeper.
Retire a way of thinking or approach to your practice. Opportunities for growth and learning, finding new ways, sustainable practices for where you are right now, in your season. 🌿🌼🌸🌕🕊️🧘🏼♂️
This is what I have learnt, what do you think?

🌸Love the body your in- practice to nourish your tinana and support where you are at right now.
🐝Release perfection and comparison - you are unique. Your practice doesn’t need to look like anyone elses.
🌸 Breathe and let go - the breath is the bridge- focusing on the breath brings you into the moment, can activate the parasympathetic nervous system and encourages your body and mind to let go.
🐝Make self-care a priority, it’s not selfish to look after yourself. Wāhine have many roles and often leave self care to last on the list. Avoid burnout by taking time every week for your own nourishment and make your yoga time precious.
🌸 What tip would you add?

✨A throw back- Seven years since this divine wee gathering, a custom creation for dance students end of year celebration.
✨I now only offer a few workshops or custom private classes per year, as being Nanny is the most important thing in my life right now.
✨However, I do pour my heart and soul into our online gathering for wāhine on Tuesday nights or via self paced recordings. ✨
🌿The course has a beautiful, organic flow as we now honour Spring in this series of classes, with added bonus lessons on yoga for arthritis, menopause and osteoporosis, and many more to come.
✨How does the change of seasons affect your practice? Do you align with te taiao - nature ? Or keep to a well tried regime ?

Through yoga nidra/ rongoā moemoeā, guided deep relaxation, we can learn to relax our body and mind ( one will follow the other). Dopamine increases by 65% according to research.
For some it is a profound and transformative experience…
It is easy to practice, no special clothing or equipment is needed. It can free the body- mind of tension, and help you to wind down for sleep.
As a practice I don’t do it often enough. But as a teacher I offer it every time.
