Your well-being matters and you deserve to work with someone who's trained to hold that space safely. If you're looking for an art therapist, it's worth making sure they are properly qualified and registered.

I use this term a lot, but what does it actually mean?

You may hear stories of well-meaning therapists trying to "lead" clients into exploring difficult memories or feelings that they're not ready to face yet.

However, art therapists like myself tend to put the client in the centre. We're all about walking alongside you on this journey.

It makes sense - finding $180 in the budget after groceries, gas, rent, etc. is impossible for many whānau. But did you know all the agencies that offer funding for therapy sessions?

Ask me about the help you can get from:
✨ Victim Support (for victims of a crime)
✨ Aoake Te Rā (when impacted by su***de)
✨ Oranga Tamariki (for families with their support)
✨ NZ Police Flexi Fund (for children exposed to crime)
✨ Individual schools (case dependent)
✨ Ministry of Social Development (through WINZ or your GP)

And for those who may be in a position to pay privately, don't forget I offer the first session at half price, so you can see if art therapy is right for you before committing to the full cost.

I realise I haven't posted my prices on here... and to be honest it's a little daunting! Setting the cost of art therapy sessions is difficult because I hate the idea of this resource being out of the budget for the people that need it most.

I've worked hard to keep it as low as possible while still covering materials, professional costs, etc. but if it's still inaccessible we can work together to get sessions funded or subsidised for you or your child.
