🌿 The Power of Gratitude 🌿

Gratitude has the ability to shift our energy, calm our mind, and open our heart. When we pause to notice the simple blessings in our lives, we begin to see just how much we already have.

Today, in my gratitude journal, I wrote:
✨ The nourishing food I eat
✨ The clothes I wear that keep me comfortable
✨ The breathtaking beauty of New Zealand’s scenery and beaches
✨ My little companion dogs who bring joy each day
✨ Fez, my partner, who walks this journey with me
✨ My family here in NZ and back in the UK, who are always close in spirit
✨ My health – the foundation that allows me to live fully

“I’m terrible at meditating – I can’t stop thinking!”
Sound familiar?

You’re not alone. One of the biggest myths about mindfulness is that you’re supposed to have a perfectly still, empty mind—like some serene monk floating on a cloud of bliss. But real-life meditation isn’t like that at all.

Your mind will wander. Thoughts and feelings will come. And that’s not a problem—it’s the practice. 🌀

Mindfulness isn’t about getting rid of your thoughts. It’s about learning to notice them, gently bring yourself back, and sit with what’s there… without judgment. With compassion. With awareness.

You’re not meditating to get it perfect. You’re meditating to become more present with your inner life—however messy, noisy, or emotional it may be.

💫 Progress in mindfulness is not measured by how “quiet” your mind is… but by how kind you can be to yourself in the midst of the noise.

As many of you know, I love movement — the gym, staying active, getting the body going. It’s often much easier to do than it is to be still.

But the mind needs stillness. True stillness.
Not lying on the couch scrolling your phone — but intentional stillness. A mindful pause. A moment of presence.

Even just 5 to 10 minutes, twice a day, can make a profound difference.

🧘‍♀️ Sit quietly.
🌿 Observe what’s happening in the body-mind — without judgment.
Let thoughts come and go. Let feelings rise and pass.
They are not you — they are simply visitors.

Everything is cyclic: thoughts, emotions, sensations.
Your only job is to notice, feel, and return to awareness.

Stillness is where clarity lives.
Balance is not found by accident — it’s created with intention.

The Story

I am Julia Prescott, an International BodyTalk Association (IBTA) qualified practitioner, offering one on one Body Talk and Mindfulness sessions in Silverdale, Auckland and Distance Sessions around the world via Skype. BodyTalk is a revolutionary form of alternative healthcare that can work well on its own, or compliment other therapies / medical treatment.

A few years ago I was diagnosed with a Connective Tissue Disorder, Trigeminal Neuralgia and went deaf. On my journey to heal myself I found a passion for understanding how the Body-Mind works. This led me to studying The Liquid Crystals and BodyTalk and becoming a qualified Practitioner in both. I have studied Advanced BodyTalk including PaRama, Mindfulness, Quantum Theory, Yoga teacher training, Power of the Mind and Consciousness.

If I had accepted my Doctors advice, I would still be on a prescription of 1 x Hydroxychloroquine, 5 x Gabapentin and 2 x Amitriptyline tablets per day, which had numerous horrible side affects and no end date to stop taking them. I took this medication for a few months, out of fear of going against professional advice, but in heart and my gut it didn’t feel right. I later found the courage to trust my instincts, as this medication was only treating my symptoms not the root causes, I stopped taking the pills. Don’t get me wrong, I am not against Doctors or Medical advice. If I broke my leg tomorrow, I’d be off to A&E not to my Healer friends! But there is a place for both. I was offered an operation to restore my hearing, which I felt was a brilliant idea, but I couldn’t have had it until I got rid of the Neuralgia in my face.

I had already started on the journey of self discovery through studying The Liquid Crystals in Australia, which are a completely ‘mind blowing’ modality of expansion and wholeness. Next I discovered BodyTalk though having sessions myself. I found it fascinating and was drawn to learn more about how this stuff worked, so I enrolled on a Fundamentals 1&2 Course in Texas, I later repeated the Course in New Zealand twice before feeling I had enough knowledge to take the Certified Practitioner exam. I have since studied a number of Advanced BodyTalk Courses and have not failed to be mesmerised by the content of what I have learned.
