Measuring your Funnel

There a great saying, “what you can measure you can manage, and what you can manage gets done."

I use an app called Ghostly. It tells me what scripts someone has on their website.

It’s a great tool to see if a potential client has any analytics or retargeting on their website.

If you are serious about developing a digital marketing funnel, then you need to make sure you have something like Google Analytics operating on your website.

It’s also vital to use UTM codes for any external links directing people to your website.

If you put up a post to social media directing people to your site, you need to use UTM codes in the URL.

Using UTM codes means Google Analytics shows this visit and their action in a way that is useful to you when looking at your GA.

We’ve all heard the saying “Garbage in, Garbage out”.

The same applies to your Google Analytics.

You can begin to see how much traffic you are generating from your email list, vs each of your social platforms like Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram etc. vs Organic vs Paid Traffic.

Funnel Tip - Have More Conversations at the Top of Funnel

With the advent of chatbots, and other messaging apps, you can have fantastic success with having more conversation at what is called the top of funnel (often referred to as TOFU - no not the food).

That means when a person goes to your website, and when they go to download your Lead Magnet (A small “chunk” of value that solves a SPECIFIC problem for a SPECIFIC market that is offered in exchange for an opt-in).

Rather than asking for their email you can use a chatbot, like ManyChat to deliver the Lead Magnet.

Doing this allows you to ask them if they’d like to chat with someone and transition into actually having a real conversation with someone when they're on your website.

The current research and trends, which seems like common sense when you think about it, show that leads to higher conversion rates and more sales.
