Love Yoga is a beautiful, purpose built yoga studio, created for everyone to practice and share yoga in the heart of Taupo. We offer classes throughout the week:

Monday 9.15am - 11.15am Ashtanga self practice
Monday 12.30pm - 1.30pm Hatha
Monday 6.00 - 7.00pm Power Flow
Tuesday 9.15am - 10.15am Gentle Hatha
Tuesday 5.30pm - 7.30pm Ashtanga Mysore
Wednesday 9.15am - 11.15am Ashtanga Mysore
Thursday 9.15am - 10.15am Gentle Hatha
Friday 8.45am - 10.45am Ashtanga Mysore
Friday 11.15am - 12.15pm Gentle Hatha

Ashtanga
These class are very individual, so that each student is adjusted and supported where they need it. This means beginners get more help initially to learn the sequence (which stays the same) and then week by week we slowly build on things and and look at what your challenges are and how we can work through them. Ashtanga classes last only as long as the individual practises for, and allows more flexibility with the timing, since you don't all have to start or finish at the same time. Hatha
These classes are led, so each week students come through a different sequence together, adjustments and options for beginners and those with a little more experience are given where necessary. Since everyone is moving and breathing together, led classes offer a chance to let go and just flow with the sequence which changes each week.

Happy birthday Loveyoga! 10 years ago we were busy creating this space and after so many classes and workshops it was time for a refresh 😍Here’s a little bit of behind the scenes at our working been this past weekend ☺️🥰 Thank you to everyone for your support I couldn’t have done it without you!!!

The studio has been transformed into a stunning fresh space with a completely new look ☺️ Loving the feature wall and how the mandala stands out!

It was a little crazy in the middle there - vaguely organised chaos really - but we got there!! Had to add a wee handstand in at the end to celebrate! What an awesome way to celebrate ☺️

Little bit of heart opening thoracic work today ☺️ Listening not pushing is a beautiful way to be in the mat. It offers space, supports and holds you, rather than urges you toward a target. I quite like this softer approach, quite different to my 20s and 30s. A reflection of rhetoric yoga journey, as I gracefully move through my 50s there is more depth, more awareness, more grace. And because of all the swimming - more strength too!

For me yoga often starts with awareness. Connecting inward and slowly starting to synchronise movement and breath. Our breath is closely connected with our nervous system. It helps to slow my mind and bring me back into the present moment.

When we are stressed or anxious, the nervous system shifts to sympathetic mode, where the adrenals are stimulated and the body is ready to flight or fight. Consciously moving out of this into parasympathetic mode, means your whole being can settle, blood can flow back to vital organs, the digestive system can turn back on and you can fully relax. This is important for healing, injury recovery, for your thoughts to process more efficiently and to stay anchored and steady.

When you know this, shifting into a calm space is as simple as slowing down and counting the breath. In class I often start with a 4 count, and build up, I my own practice I start at 7. What about you how do you calm and steady your mind?

Reflecting on my trip to China I really do feel quite humbled to have been so welcomed with open arms. It feels like the culmination of my teaching journey which started 20 years ago. My first teacher training in Rishikesh was pretty basic, we did lots of philosophy, cleansing practices, breathing and meditation. I did not feel very well equipped to teach, and to be honest had very little understanding of anatomy. Not long afterward I met Jonnie for the first time and the rest is history. Thank you for such kind, intelligent, thoughtful teaching over the years. For sharing your love of Ashtanga and passing on this beautiful methodology. For modelling such generosity and for your belief. As you say we are all unique - I love sharing what I’ve learnt, inspiring and supporting others wherever they are on their journey ☺️🥰

A few more photos from China, practicing with the Intermediate Series teaching team, sharing adjustments and inspiration. Loved the challenge, the strong Yang energy, but also appreciate the chance to pause now and reflect on the journey! I rarely get to practice at such intensity either Intermediate or Third Series. Loved it - despite the heat (40 degrees?!) and the sheer effort to keep going when I would have been quite happy to just lay down 🤣🙈🤩

If you have been thinking of taking your yoga to the next level, LoveYogaNZ RYT 200-hour teacher training, why not come for just ONE of the weekends as a taster, and complete 25 hours.

Our approach to the entire training comes from the understanding that we all need both compassion and strength. The training builds on the traditional Ashtanga system, but steps much further into the realms of functional movement, somatics and energetics. We ensure you are well equipped with effective tools and techniques to support students and to develop your own personal practice, far beyond the yoga mat.

WINTER 2025 UPDATE: As we approach the shortest day of the year (Saturday 21st June) it is with pride that the 2025 LoveYoga Teacher Training is drawing to a close. Thank you to all the students who have joined them in class, supported their journey and helped to make this such an authentic experience. I am humbled each time I hold this transformational rite of passage. If you're keen to take the journey, I have a 25hr weekend training this October 17th - 19th. If you're interested in the full 200hr starting March 2026, please send me your Expression of Interest.

✨ COME TO CLASS THIS FRIDAY - MATARIKI!
The studio will be open for practice as usual this Friday 20th June, since we are in full swing of our current teacher training. That does however mean, the Monday lunchtime 23rd June, 12.30pm Hatha class will be cancelled next week, so I can take a momentary breather!!

🧘‍♀️ Yin Yoga Wednesdays starts 25th June
Reset your nervous system, recharge your batteries and revive your energy levels! The next course will run 12.30pm - 1.30pm Wednesdays from 25th June. $120 for 6 weeks. A wonderful way to unwind mid-week, 60 minutes for you to de-stress and relax, a popular choice, so book now!
