Ashtanga
These class are very individual, so that each student is adjusted and supported where they need it. This means beginners get more help initially to learn the sequence (which stays the same) and then week by week we slowly build on things and and look at what your challenges are and how we can work through them. Ashtanga classes last only as long as the individual practises for, and allows more flexibility with the timing, since you don't all have to start or finish at the same time. Hatha
These classes are led, so each week students come through a different sequence together, adjustments and options for beginners and those with a little more experience are given where necessary. Since everyone is moving and breathing together, led classes offer a chance to let go and just flow with the sequence which changes each week.

Come and join us to celebrate the Winter Solstice with 108 Sun Salutes! A true Meditation in Motion Thurs 18th June from 5.30pm, members FREE non members $25. The number 108 carries deep symbolic meaning in yoga and many Eastern traditions. At a simple level, it’s about focus and endurance. Repeating the sun salute sequence 108 times becomes a moving meditation: your breath, body, and mind start to sync, and distractions fall away. It’s challenging, but also rhythmic and calming once you settle into it. The number itself is where it gets interesting. In yoga philosophy and related traditions:

🔥 There are said to be 108 energy lines (nadis) that converge at the heart.
🔥 A traditional mala (prayer bead necklace) has 108 beads, used for meditation.
🔥 In astronomy, the distance between the Earth and the Sun is roughly 108 times the Sun’s diameter, which adds a cosmic layer of meaning.

The practice of doing 108 sun salutes is often treated as a kind of ritual or reset. It’s commonly practiced at times of transition—like the change of seasons, solstices, or the new year—to mark letting go of the old and welcoming something new. 21st June marks the winter solstice, our practice will run from 5.30pm - 7pm on Thursday 18th, members FREE non members $25. By the end, most people feel both exhausted and surprisingly clear - like they’ve worked through something, not just in the body, but in the mind too.

If you’re ever thinking of trying it, it’s completely OK to modify, rest, or even do a smaller number. Let me know you're keen!

DATE: Saturday, 18 April 2026, 2:30 pm

LOCATION: Love Yoga, Taupo

SPACE HOLDERS: Ely (Myxtica Rituals), Ryan (Human design Kitchens) and Estefania.

WHAT IS HUMAN DESIGN?

Human Design is a language of awareness , a system based on combined disciplines like the I-ching, astrology, the chakras and the Kabbalah. It has the goal of shining a light into our unique purpose.

WHAT IS THE WORKSHOP ABOUT?

In this workshop we will dive deep into your energy type, where to make decisions from, and how to navigate your life in alignment with your design. We will also share with you a voice practice called vocal toning and experience using your own voice to bring awareness into different parts of your body, including your main energetic centers.

Our approach is to bring a practical way to understand and apply Human Design into your every day life.

This is a great way to launch you into your personal experiment if you have been curious about what Human Design is about.

Just had to share this photo and the beautiful story behind it ☺️ I’ve been going to Archery for 3 weeks now with my son Max and we have been loving it! Every time I shoot, I pull the bow, hold it steady, inhale and really focus on the bullseye 🎯 This is at the heart of yoga - just like the story of Arjuna and the target. Turns out I’m pretty good too 🥰 if you don’t know the story, here it is:

Arjuna the mighty bowman of the epic Mahabharata, provides us with an example of what is meant by
Dharana - the sixth limb of yoga.
Drona, teacher of the royals and our hero Arjuna, organised an archery contest. Students were called upon one by one to describe the target, which was pointed out to them. It
was a nesting bird. The first Pandava brother described the grove of trees, the next the particular tree and the last brother the bough on which the nest stood. When Arjuna’s turn came, he described to his teacher first the bird. Then fine tuning his focus, its head,
and lastly he could see nothing but the shining eye of the bird, which was the centre of the target chosen by Drona.
This story highlights how our focus is absolutely essential to the practice. The Maharabharata continues
later on: Taking the bow of the great weapn of the Upanishad, one should put upon it an arrow sharpened
by meditation. Stretching it with a thought directed to the essence of That, pe*****te the Imperishable
as the mark, my friend. The mystic symbol AUM is the bow. The arrow is the Self (Atma). Brahman is the
target. By the undistracted man is It pe*****ted. One should come to be in It, as the arrow in the mark.
Everything is inside of us and outisde of us - we are everything. When we chant, we focus the mind, we
offer ourselves the opportunity to return, to re-unite with that oneness - to BE that oneness

I am now 51 and well aware that I need to do strength work. Yoga is simply NOT enough. And neither is swimming AND yoga. I have strong shoulders, core an arms but now I need to build up my gluts and legs.

Having resisted going to a gym in forever I tried it and hated it. I knew it wouldn’t work for me.

So then I decided why not set up and create my own? I didn’t want any machinery - I wanted SIMPLICITY. Thanks for the help, day one done!! ✅

Beautiful place to practice a little second series today 🙏☺️After a week in Mullumbimby we’ve headed south to the Promised Land for a few days. Simply stunning views from our deck, wild parrots and lizards, warm days and delicious shared meals. So nice to pause. I know I haven’t posted in a while, guess I kinda needed a different type of pause there too 🙏☺️

Got me some new stretch bands and have been playing - loving the strength they help build and the breadth of movement of you can find too - I’ve always looked at natarajasana and wondered how in earth to lift the leg to split - the answer is simple - just lengthen the strap!!!

Love this quote I came across earlier this week:
“Our physical forms are the vehicle through which spiritual essence gets to experience its own mysterious creation—to be bewildered by its creation, shocked by it, in awe of it, and even confused by it. Spirit is pure potential that contains every possible outcome. From the standpoint of our spiritual essence, nothing is to be avoided. No experiences need to be turned from. Everything, in its way, is a gift—even the painful things. In reality, all of life—every moment, every experience—is an expression of spirit.” Adyashanti
