Something I’ve been noticing more and more in my work as a massage therapist is how deeply the nervous system and the body are connected.
Sometimes it’s not just “tight muscles.”
It’s a body that’s holding on… a nervous system that’s overwhelmed, overstimulated, or simply exhausted.
I often see this show up as muscles that won’t soften, areas that stay guarded, or a body that feels like it’s constantly bracing.
In those moments, I don’t rush in to “fix” anything.
I take a step back.
I listen.
I create space for you to be heard, because in my experience, that’s often what’s been missing. Many people I meet have been carrying a lot on their own for a long time.
Before we even begin the massage, I focus on helping your body feel safe:
– slowing everything down
– encouraging deep, steady breathing
– allowing your system to settle
During the session, I’m not just working on muscles — I’m checking in, adjusting, and moving at a pace your body is ready for.
Sometimes that means going slower.
Sometimes it means spending more time in one area.
Sometimes it means simply holding space.
Because when the nervous system starts to relax, the body often follows.
I’m not here to replace medical care — I’m here to support you, to listen, and to work with your body, not against it.
You’re not just a “tight shoulder” or a “sore back.”
You’re a whole person — and you deserve to be treated that way.
