Please stay at home if you have symptoms - call us or healthline for further advice.

Two further cases of measles have been confirmed over the long weekend, both in Wellington, as part of the ongoing national measles outbreak. This brings the current total number of known cases to 10, but we expect there to be more cases as the response continues.

Of the 10 cases, one is linked to overseas travel, and the remaining nine are locally acquired.

Measles symptoms include:

an illness that begins with high fever (over 38 C), cough, runny nose, and sore red eyes (conjunctivitis)
a rash, beginning on the face and gradually spreading down the body to the arms and legs. The rash lasts for up to one week.

Photographs provided by Dermnet are examples of a measles rash

E mihi ana ki a koe, Manu, for welcoming us into your world and sharing your whānau journey through the different decisions you made about immunising your four pēpi. Every whānau navigates their own path when it comes to immunisation, and we hope your story helps others see how personal and unique these choices are - and that the decision to immunise is theirs to make.

Kei a koe te tikanga. 💙

Please be aware of the early symptoms:
• Fever
• Cough
• Runny nose

Measles is HIGHLY CONTAGIOUS - the virus can linger in the air for up to 2 hours after an infected person has coughed or sneezed.

You can spread the virus:
• From 4 days before the rash appears
• Until 4 days after the rash appears

If you or your child develops symptoms:

According to Melanoma New Zealand, our melanoma incidence rate is the highest in the world. More than 7000 melanomas are diagnosed yearly in NZ, with almost 300 kiwis dying of melanoma each year.
Our skin nurse Paula currently has appointments available.
Paula has extensive knowledge and experience in identifying and treating lesions of concern, and runs a skin clinic at the practice every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.
Paula offers a 30-minute full body check to assess and identify any lesions of concern, along with photographing all lesions for future comparisons. These assessments are priced at $175 and are recommended annually to track any changes over time.
Paula also offers 15-minute spot checks if you have a specific lesion you are worried about.
Don't put it off any longer! If you would like to book an appointment in the Skin Clinic, please give us a call on 07 378 4080 or send a portal message.

Today, Thursday (Rāpere), is day four of Mental Health Awareness Week, and the Top Up Together theme is take notice / me aro tonu.

Take notice refers to the practice of mindfulness. Mindfulness can be thought of as open and receptive attention to, and awareness of, what is occurring in the present moment. Practising mindfulness with others can deepen connection and enhance our collective sense of wellbeing.

It's day three of Mental Health Awareness Week! Be active / me kori tonu is our Top Up Together theme for Rāapa (Wednesday). 🏃

Being active is not only important for our physical wellbeing, it’s also a powerful mood booster. Being active with whānau and friends can boost motivation, strengthen social bonds, and make physical activity more enjoyable.

We have some pretty amazing ways to get active in our town, one way, especially for women happens tonight and every Wednesday - regenerate run club (walking too). Come along from 6pm at 2 mile bay 🥰
