Happy 24th Birthday Jacob!! It hasn't been your most exciting birthday but one more we got to spend with you xx.
We are sorry we haven't posted on here for a long time, we have been busy giving Jacob the care and attention he needs, and crazy home/work life balance.
Jacob has deteriorated slowly but it is now more evident. If you have been sending him messages and aren't getting replies, sorry it's not intentional but Jacob's eye sight is going and texting is hard, you are welcome to call and chat to Jacob anytime.
Thank you all for your love and support ❀️

A hard decision was made today... Jacobs chemo treatment will stop. While a recent MRI has shown the tumours are stable, his condition has deterated.
Jacob's oncologist said that they cannot say if the treatment is helping him or making his quality of life worse. His fatigue, energy levels, walking and balance has taken a turn for the worse recently and the constant care required was all taken into consideration before making this extremly hard decision. Our next step is to look at radiation, we will meet with the doctors over the next week or 2 and work through the pros and cons as to if Jacob wants to go down this path.
Thank you to everyone for your amazing support xx

We are so sorry about the delay between posts. Life has been busy!
So covid finally got us all a couple of weeks ago, jacob was first to get it. He handled it well, because he was on a high dose of steroids they weren't keen to give him the anti viral to his immune system fight it. Turns out he didn't need it and other than tired and congestion he was fine. Our GPs at 5th Ave were absolutely amazing and monitored him daily at the start, if it wasn't in person it was over the phone, they were just great! The rest of the family soon got it it and all were fine.
Jacobs treatment was put on hold while covid lingered and they made sure he was strong enough to continue. First treatment back he handled like a pro, he had Nana Helen for chemo support and next scan is due around the end of June.
This is jacobs last week on the steroids and hopefully some of the side effects will start to go.
We will try and post more frequently and keep you all upto date on his progress.
Thank you all for your support
Xx

What an amazing turn out on Saturday night for the 2nd fundraising quiz for Jacob's treatment! Thank you to all our wonderful sponsors, the yacht club for the amazing venue, Ada for setting up, Tracey for writing the Quiz, Darryl and Lynne for running the night, and to those of you that could come alongπŸ™. We had so many amazing raffles and auctions up for grabs and managed to raise $6734!!! Just amazing!!! We are so grateful for all the support πŸ₯°.
Earlier on Saturday afternoon Jacob spent a few hours at the Tauranga Rowing Club with his mates from school and old coach, catching up and even managed to get back in the boat for a quick row around the harbour. So great to see the boys come from all around to show their support for Jacob 😍

2nd week of holiday went by so fast and we have been so busy since. Jacob had MRI and results on Monday, and quiz night planing is in full swing.
Queenstown and the wild west coast was amazing, the long delay in picton meant Jacob was unable to catch up with his uni friends in Wellington but hopefully we can do this sometime soon.
The MRI showed the tumours are stable but maybe pressing on parts of his brain that are causing him to be weak, tired and slow. They are reducing his steroids gradually and treatment will hopefully resume on Tuesday next week.
We have a quiz night on Saturday, so many great prizes have been donated and we still have plenty of space if you want to book a team in. See flyer below.
Some people have also been asking for the give a little page link, here it is.

What a week!! Made it down south and we are currently in Dunedin, with one of the highlights of the trip going to watch the Highlanders play the Blues at Forsyth Barr. Thank you so much to NZ Rugby Foundation for making this happen, also Marty Banks for your awesome top. The little sisters even got their faces on T.V.
Earlier in the week we crossed over on the ferry and then spent time in Kaikora visiting the seals, Hanmer Springs for a soak in the hot pools, Christchurch to the Antarctic Centre and catch up with a mate, Adam. Tekapo to star gaze but the cloud was to thick, in Twizel to reminisce about the 2 Maadi Cup Regattas where Jacob has rowed, Omaru for a half way stop before Dunedin.
Off to Queenstown for a few days then heading back up the west coast on the way home. Long drives but as Jacob can't fly, camper vanning is the best way for us to travel.
Health wise Jacob is very tired and sometimes chooses to nap rather then been dragged around sight seeing, he is weak but gaining some independence back and trying to do somethings on his own, the steroids have increased his appetite and he is starting to get back his sense of humor and enjoying a laugh.
