Legacy Funerals

Legacy Funerals Complete funeral and bereavement care. Based in Tauranga and Cambridge. Every one of us has a story. A story created from our first breath to our last.

We believe funerals aren’t just a place to tell these stories. They’re a place to embrace them. That’s why every Legacy service is bespoke, helping you celebrate your loved one’s life the way they lived it. For memories that live on in your head and in your heart.

Many of us carefully plan what happens to our physical belongings, but forget about our digital lives.

Photos, emails, social media accounts and online subscriptions can be difficult for families to manage without clear guidance. In some cases, precious memories are lost or accounts remain active for years.

Planning your digital legacy does not have to be complicated. A simple list of accounts and passwords stored safely, with clear wishes around what should happen can make a meaningful difference for those you love.

For practical help and advice, please give us a call on 07 543 4780 or, have a read through the information we have available under “Planning” on our website - legacyfunerals.co.nz

For many families, the stress of planning a funeral is made harder by uncertainty around cost and decisions, especially when everything has to happen quickly.

What many people do not realise is that planning ahead can be done gradually, without pressure. You can record your wishes, explore options, and understand potential costs in advance. Some people choose to set aside funds, while others
simply document their preferences. Both are valid.

Having these conversations early can ease the emotional and financial burden on those you love, giving them clarity at a time when they need it most.

If you would like to talk through your options, our team is always here to listen.

We are incredibly proud to share this series of photographs, captured by our Funeral Director Darin’s daughter Elia, as part of her NCEA Level 3 Photography end of year assignment at Otumoetai College.

Through a documentary lens, these images tell the story of a funeral from start to finish, focusing on the parts of the process that are rarely seen. Shot entirely in black and white, the work removes distraction and invites quiet reflection, allowing the care, dignity, and beauty in each moment to come through.

The project earned 1st place in Photography, a remarkable achievement, and a powerful reminder of the meaning behind the work we do every day.

At Legacy, we believe every family deserves to feel supported, respected, and truly heard.

We’re honoured when families trust us to walk beside them - offering gentle guidance, space to make their own choices, and care that honours both the person and those who love them.

Part of what makes us unique is that Legacy Funerals is owned by Legacy Trust - a registered charitable trust dedicated to giving back.

Recently, Legacy Trust donated towards the Mount Indoor Bowls’ Tournament Day – our third donation to this wonderful club.

Our support helps the Mount Indoor Bowls community come together for a day that’s both fun and fiercely competitive, with players travelling from around the Bay to take part.

Because every family we help, helps us give back.

Writing a eulogy or tribute is never easy - but it’s one of the most meaningful ways to
honour someone’s life.

Start by jotting down memories, milestones, and moments that capture who they were. Think about what made them smile, what they cared about, and how they made
others feel.

You don’t need to be poetic or polished - just speak from the heart. It’s your love that
people will hear most clearly.

As the year comes to a close, we’re reminded of what truly matters - time spent
with those we love and memories that stay with us always.

Thank you to our community for your trust and support this year.

Wishing you peace and kindness this Christmas season.

Pre-planning a funeral means recording your wishes - the type of service, music, or personal touches you’d like. Pre-paying means making financial arrangements towards funeral costs, helping take the pressure off family when the time comes.

Many people do both, but even one step helps ease future stress for loved ones. If you’re ready to learn more, our team can help guide you through your options, with no
pressure and at your pace.

A funeral director’s role goes far beyond organising a service. They’re there to support, guide, and take care of the many details that can feel overwhelming after a loss.

From liaising with celebrants, florists and venues to helping families with paperwork,
transport, and personal touches – their care makes a difficult time a little gentler.

At Legacy, we’re here to help families focus on love, memories, and togetherness - while we take care of the rest.
