Tihei Mauriora! Ki te whaiao, ki te Ao Mārama. The breath, the energy of life! To the dawn light, to the World of light. From a healing perspective it’s about emergence from the darkness of unwellness into the world of light! Ko wai au? ...

I also acknowledge my Walsh, Irish & English ancestry. In the early 60's, my parents came to Mt Maunganui to get married. As a teenager, I lived on our whenua in Whakakī (Nth of Wairoa) where I connected with my Kuia, on a spiritual level, who was the healer there. However, work life soon took over. After 21 years working on construction sites, I decided to study at Toi Ohomai in 2006 to become a Personal Trainer. I then worked there for 15 years. I bring these skills forward to assist people in gaining the best outcome. In 2017, I finally acknowledged the consistent calls from my Kuia (Spiritually) to start learning rongoā māori. Firstly, with Jolie Davis & then with Atarangi Murupaenga. Their guidance towards my growth & development within the traditional Māori healing teachings has been life changing on all levels of being. It has been fast, intense & challenging at times however, necessary. The learning is continuous & for life! Faith & trust in my pathway led to the opening of:
TE AO MĀRAMA TRADITIONAL MĀORI BODYWORK
We are the healers of ourselves! Life's challenges can cloud this realization. At times we need assistance to help facilitate this process to remember & reconnect to the true essence of who we are. Just like the butterfly, without the struggle & fight through adversity, it would not be able to build the strength needed to break out of the darkness & into the light. A transformative process to freedom of being. Tools of guidance, education, support, advice are provided to empower & uplift until people are ready to take over the reins of healing for themselves. Self-responsible, self-accountable. It all starts with a choice! Healing is not a destination; it is a way of being. We need to be shapeshifters that adapt & change with the flow of life. To regularly practice self-honouring. SERVICES.....

ROMIROMI / MIRIMIRI / WHITIWHITIKŌRERO:
Traditional Maaori bodywork can help to release stress, tension & trauma held deep within the body at a cellular level that has accumulated through life's experiences. The movement is slow to get the depth needed for release to take place. It’s not about causing pain; it’s extracting pain to awaken the body, mind & spirit. To remember who you are, as a spiritual being having a physical experience. MAHI RAAKAU - SELF HELP/HEALING
One of the traditional practices of our Traditional Māori Healing Arts. Working the body with a Raakau (stick). The use of the he Raakau will help people discover the places and parts of the body that are challenged. It will always move the user to a deeper level of awareness of self that may have been forgotten. The feet are considered the gateway to the body, so therefore must be worked on first. To open the body up, ignite the internal organs and to instantly bring people into the here & now. A sequence is used to work sections of the feet which correspond to sections of the torso. The movement is slow to get the depth needed to release stored tension, stress & trauma. The work can trigger memories, injuries, past life patterns. It’s not about causing pain; it’s about awakening the body, mind & spirit. Once the feet have been opened, a larger Rākau is used to work the torso in sections. Wānanga are held bi-monthly at the Welcome Bay Community Centre, Tauranga. Or private groups by arrangement. ACC-REGISTERED RONGOĀ MĀORI SERVICE:

☕ Wonderground.nz ⛱🌊

One of my favourite places to call in to on my way to work if Oceanbeach Rd is still backed up!
At the intersection of Oceanbeach Rd & Yale St, Arataki...you'll find Holly's coffee cart - WONDERGROUND!

Start the day with a beach walk & a beautifully made hot drink. And if its Friday... a donut treat! 🍩

Great chats, chilled vibes, chairs & no long queues to deal with!

It's my last time here this morning as I'll be based out Pāpāmoa very soon. If you're in the area, call in to see Holly. You'll be glad you did. 🌞🥰

⏲ COUNTDOWN!....⏳

FOUR more work days left at my current space on Oceanbeach Road, Mt Maunganui. "Omanu Beach". My daughters favourite beach! I have LOVED being there!
Last day is THURSDAY 11TH Sep!

The 3+years there has allowed me to develop within my business & grow within the Traditional Bodywork while staying true to the whakapapa of mātauranga that has been passed down to me from my kaiako Atarangi Muru.
It has been a beautiful consistent space to step into after floating around different places on my own since 2017.

It's now time to surround myself with a good vibing hub of people in the knowingness of who I am within my mahi.

BUT FIRST....an opportunity has presented itself to have a mini break before I restart at the new location.
On the 12th Sep, I fly out to Rarotonga! 🌺.

To celebrate growth & new beginnings.

🦋 "I WILL FOLLOW YOU TO....." 🦋

This was the theme feedback when I contacted my ACC Kiritaki to inform them I had found a new workspace for us & would they still be able to see me.

This deeply moved me. The commitment to continue is testament to the work that has been done by them & a willingness to expand on their results.

I'd like to give a massive MIHI to all who have flicked me places to check out over the last few months. It's all about timing & patience.

The new place is out Pāpāmoa, off Parton Road & most importantly...still close to the beach! VERY happy. And those who know me well will nod their heads & say...ahhh, yup that's Megs! Lol

At the moment, a bigger room is being built for me so no confirmed move date yet.
I'm currently still at Oceanbeach Rd until I move.

I will place a post up once I move in.

🪵SMALL BUT MIGHTY🪵

Sundays Mahi Rākau roopu was the perfect size for the day after a very busy weekend down in Whakatāne to support Ngā Tohunga with their healing day on Saturday.
Which was amazing! Be sure to get down there for the next one.

Our Mahi Rākau session was aimed at areas that needed attention. Pairing up to help each other. Being present with whatever came up.

Challenges are a constant in life. Finding balance in life is a big one. Look for areas that need attention.
Reconnect to self, whānau, maunga, moana, whenua etc often.
Go to your waters to cleanse, clear & release often.
In the stillness of the mind we are able to feel & see the subtle tohu our tūpuna/kaitiaki reveal to help guides us through life.

A big mihi to the awesome wāhine who showed up for themselves on Sunday.
Each session is different in energy & its this energy that guides where our sessions need to go.

Our bi-monthly wānanga will have its next practice on October 19th. Pānau to register will be out early that month.

Many thanks as always to the Welcome Bay Community Centre for their support.

HAPPENING THIS SUNDAY, REGO IS OPEN..

🪵🌳👣 MAHI RAAKAU WAANANGA - Self-help/Self-healing.

Kia ora e te whānau

Our Bi-monthly practice of Mahi Raakau is on this month - AUGUST! FEET & TORSO.
Registrations are now open.

The use of the Raakau, in all its ways and means, is a tool to help people discover the places and parts of the body that are challenged. It will always move the user to some level of understanding and knowing of oneself that may have been forgotten or thought one lacked.
The work may trigger memories, injuries, past life patterns. It’s not about causing pain; it’s about awakening the body, mind & spirit.

Max capacity will be 20 people. Raakau will be provided. But for those wanting to bring their own raakau, here are the measurements.
You will need TWO sizes:
25mm diameter by 600mm length
40mm diameter by 600mm length

When:
SUNDAY 17TH AUGUST 2025
1pm start till 3.30pmish. Includes a light snack afterwards.
Where:
Welcome Bay Community Centre (Behind the Hall)
242 Welcome Bay Road, Tauranga.
Cost:
KOHA ENTRY (Please koha a reflection of the energy exchanged & to cover costs - ngā mihi 🙏)

TO REGISTER:
megsbodyworx@gmail.com
By EMAIL ONLY if you know you can commit to the wānanga date so that I can keep track of numbers. Also indicate if you will be bringing your own raakau or will need to borrow 1 or both.

I thank you all for your support & belief in the mahi. And for having the faith & courage to step forward to honour yourself.

Thank you always to the Welcome Bay Community Centre for your support.

Welcome to share. I look forward to seeing you soon.

🦋 TE AO MĀRAMA TRADITIONAL MĀORI BODYWORK 🦋

We have been on quite a journey so far to get to this point. But here we are.

I have grown into my business, learned a lot about myself in the process through working with the many people I am blessed to share space with.

The timing feels right to put my logo out there . Firstly with my own personal hoodie. Merch will flow later if the interest is there.

Many thanks to my mate Dion Seeling from Cravass Clothing for providing the hoodie & printing my logo.

🦁LIONS GATE – 08/08/2025🦁

🦁Lions Gate refers to a period when the astrological alignment of the star Sirius with the Sun in Leo creates a potent energy portal.
This annual event, also known as Lions Gate Portal, is associated with heightened spiritual energy, manifestation & transformation.

✨It’s a time when the spiritual veil between the physical & spiritual realms thins, allowing for deeper spiritual experiences & a heightened connection to oneself.

🦁The energy from the Lions Gate is believed to amplify intentions, making it a potent time for manifesting desires & attracting abundance.

✨Releasing old patterns, emotional baggage & limiting beliefs, paving the way for new beginnings & personal growth.

🦁The portal occurs during the astrological sign of Leo. Which is associated with confidence, strength & self-expression, further enhancing the portals’ energy.

✨The date: 8/8 coincides with the peak of the portal & is associated with the #8. Which in numerology represents abundance, power & infinite potential.

🦁Turning the 8 onto its side to form the Infinity Symbol. Representing eternity, interconnectedness & the cyclical nature of life. It signifies the endless flow of energy, love & spirit, suggesting a continuous cycle with no beginning or end.

A few practices that can be done during Lions Gate:
💫Meditation – To connect with the portal & facilitate manifestation.
💫Intention setting – Set clear intentions & visualizing wishes.
💫Journalling – Reflecting on the past experiences, releasing limiting beliefs & envisioning the future.

There is a huge amount of energy leading up to Lions Gate. Bring awareness to this when the emotions are intense. Alchemize energy in a way that works best for you.

As always, only take what resonates for you.

🍂WELLNESS MONTH - AUGUST🍃

Te Ao Mārama - Tauranga City Library had approached me back in February to ask if I'd like to collaborate with them to facilitate a short Mahi Rākau Self-Help/Healing Wānanga for their Wellness Month.

It's an opportunity to check in with yourself, connect with others & reenergise. The kaupapa for this Wellness Month is around Te Whare Tapa Wha - a Māori holistic model of health.

This model views health and wellbeing as a wharenui (meeting house) with four walls, each representing a key dimension. These dimensions are: taha wairua (spiritual health), taha hinengaro (mental and emotional health), taha tinana (physical health), and taha whānau (family and social health). The foundation of the wharenui represents the whenua (land) and one's connection to it.

I was going to post the flyer for people to come along but it's already SOLD OUT!!

BUT....

Our Bi-Monthly practice at the Welcome Bay Community Centre, Tauranga will be on in AUGUST. The flyer to register will be posted early August so please keep an eye out for that. Registrations are by email only & is koha based.
