Here's a little challenge for a trained eye!
Which photos are before a session and which photos are after?

Horse and Rider sessions are a unique event where human and horse are perceived as one beast - a centaur, if you like. Working as one unit, flinchlocks (places of trapped pressure) are found throughout the 8-legged animal, as person and horse work to balance each other, and each other's injuries.

Baby Kitten passed away tragically from kidney failure a couple of weeks ago.

Dr Keith Houston at Care Vets supported us through this tough time. He was most compassionate, understanding, and patient. The kind of vet you could wish for.

A long-time canine client of mine visited me again today, and I discovered that Keith is also his vet. I heard a similar story of Keith's utter care for both animals and owners alike.

I highly recommend his services to anyone in the Tauranga area. I very much appreciate what he provides.

Here's a post and and a toast to dear little Pip who is back to her joyful self 🄳

(She is my master teacher for lessons of precision in observation. Thank you Pipidee-pip!!🤩🄰)

The story, from Pip's mother:
"Pip was in severe pain. Taken to a vet and given pain relief which helped but we were told Pip had a probable degenerative disease and would need an MRI scan to confirm and possibly surgery. I took Pip to see Margaret instead. She was so respectful of her. She let Pip move around the room until she felt safe and settled. Pip let Margaret work her magic, releasing locked in pressure.
After three sessions Pip is back to her happy pain free self and doing really well. No pain in her spine.

The new year brought me in contact with a new herd out in Pyes Pa. I was also out in Morrinsville with a trio again that I haven't seen for three years. It has been a delight working alongside these groups and their guardians, watching the interconnectedness between horse and human.

There's something extraordinary that happens when a client knows it's being heard with a chest that listens to density. Communication is direct with words, gestures, and contact through a language of spacial orientation, timing, and pressure. Everything is speaking. A release is noticed throughout the local gathering, and often I am directed very clearly where to go, where not to go, and for how long, from other members of the group or from the client themselves.

One of these four-legged clients drank and drank and drank from a bucket after her sacrum released. She had only slurped from one particular trough on the farm for over two years, and had refused to drink when she was kept inside.

Another eased from her heightened anxiety and alarm, becoming soft in the eye and hand, even when ridden by different students.

Yet another almost fell to the ground as he momentarily slipped away in some deep, long-forgotten sleep... I've never seen a downward dog quite like it.

The women I worked with and their equines consistently took my learning to new levels. Thank you to them for inviting me to become a part of their world for that time. Here's to the oncoming autumn!!

This wee beauty was in a bit of a state when I saw her.
She calved fine but then went down later that day and continued going downhill although the good ol' farmer provided supplements and special attention.

Four days later, I met her lying in the heat of the sun. She was limping badly even though there was no sign of swelling in the hoof, mastitis had kicked in, she wasn't eating and was struggling to move ... things weren't looking good.

Her guts got going with belches and grumbles while the pressure from her hind leg, tail, and chest dropped. A bit of spark returned although her mobility had only mildly improved during the session.

It was time to leave the rest to nature.

I contacted the farm a week later to ask how things were going and happily she was back to top form. So stoked for her and the team.

Horses for courses,
Twelve puppies,
and good-hearted,
hardworking folk
filled my days down on the west coast
of Taranaki.

I was particularly bad at remembering to take photos this time, and rather, have come home with a big warm Fuzzy, fuzzy-ing in my chest.

These three four-legged characters are chilling, post CC sessions.
It was just neat to watch the thoroughbreds' anxiety soften over the time of working with them, and have the little fulla find more stride with the releases, and way more sass!!

As for the photoless, two-legged clients? It was a great pleasure.
Seeing "Granny" walk smoothly around her house with a beaming face and new found confidence particularly brought a tear to mine eye.

A warm shout out to Suzie Keightley, a practitioner colleague in Waitara who does a unique combination of emotional recognition and Flinchlock Release.

And a big "Yeeeha!!" to Mr C.H. for inviting me down, recommending my work and patiently teaching me to drive a bulldozer, a digger, and a skateboard.
