It's time to retire.
Drs Kerry Willoughby and Kevin Giles will be hanging up their stethoscopes at the end of January 2025. We are grateful and humbled to have been part of this community for the last 36 years. We are proud of the professional care and collegial nature that has made Farm St Family Health Centre a highly respected and valued GP practice since opening our doors in April 1992. And we are confident that we are leaving Farm St in exceptionally capable hands, thanks to our fantastic colleagues and wonderful staff.
We will miss many things about life at Farm Street, but it's time to quietly slip out of the back door. Stop and chat if you spot us walking the beach, wandering up the Mount or pedalling down Matapihi Rd - we're still going to be here :)
Kerry and Kevin

UPDATE 8:10 PM
We have now declared a regional State of Emergency for Bay of Plenty.
A state of emergency lets us act more quickly and get the things we need to respond when lives and property are at risk.
This includes things like
• closing roads or public places.
• undertaking works – for example, earthworks required for stabilising land and properties.
• entering a property to rescue people or save lives.
• removing or securing dangerous structures and material.
• providing first aid, food or shelter.
Under a state of emergency, you can still go about your normal life if you are not affected, but please stay across updates from your council, civil defence and emergency services.

From 13 February, visits to your GP for covid symptoms may no longer be funded.

We encourage you to test at home prior to attending with Covid symptoms. We will continue to use our new cottage for these consultations.

New Zealand’s COVID-19 Protection Framework (traffic lights) has ended. With case numbers low, it was safe to remove most COVID-19 rules.

Remember, you can still access health information and services over the summer holidays.

Websites such as Health Navigator and Ministry of Health - Manatū Hauora are set up with useful information to help you manage your health over the summer months.

Additionally, you can phone your GP day or night as a nurse triage service is set up to answer after-hour calls. Healthline also provides free health advice and information any time on 0800 611 116.
