We specialise in improving the computer skills for adults over 40 years of age, so that they have somewhere to go to meet other like-minded people who also want to improve or volunteer to assist others in learning about computers and hear about the latest computer technologies, through the regular courses and workshops that we offer.

We provide small, friendly and stress-free computer classes, where you will gain the necessary skills and confidence you need to get the most out of information technology.

The SeniorNet Club has limited course vacancies
Check out www.taurangaseniornet.co.nz... for courses and workshops that have vacancies for the second part of the term. Do you have a computer device such as a Mobil Phone, MacBook or Laptop and would like help to learn in a small class how to use different programs or apps from someone of a similar age. The clubs web page has information on what the club has to offer, how you can help, where it is and how you can contact the club. Bookings and payments must be made a week before the start of workshop or course. When phoning the club, please leave a message including your name and number and a volunteer will get back to you.

Using Your Computer
In this course, which is for either W.10 or W.11, you will learn how to:
1. create documents and folders and save documents into folders
2. format and move text
3. navigate you way around a computer.
Plus be shown some of the Google Apps and/or other topical applications that may be helpful to you. A manual will be emailed to you.

Introduction to the iPad

This Introductory Course …is designed to help you learn the essentials of using your iPad.

You will learn about …
1. basic operations for using your iPad
2. connecting your iPad to a computer by using the USB cable
3. opening and hiding Apps
4. using the multi-touch screen
5. using the virtual keyboard
6. using the Notes app
7. adjusting Preferences (Settings)
8. using iTunes to connect to and access apps and media files from the Apple Store
9. installing and using Apps
10. using the Contacts app.

Another week to go and the first courses for 2025 Term 1 start. Below are details of our first one - "LibreOffice", which is an easy to use free downloadable office programme. We still have some vacancies in this course email us on

LIBRE OFFICE FOR BEGINNERS
This is a free downloadable office programme for Windows and AppleMac, which is very similar to Microsoft Office and could be used as a replacement at no cost! It contains the following software:
1. Writer for word processing;
2. Calc for spreadsheets; and
3. Impress for presentation slideshows;
Plus, other useful apps. Each session (3 x 2 hours) will cover an introduction to one of the main apps: Writer, Calc and Impress.
If you have used Microsoft Office you will find LibreOffice has very similar tools to create text documents, spreadsheets and slideshow presentations … and you can save to the Microsoft Office formats of: .docx .xlsx and .pptx.

Please note - you must be a current 2025 member to attend courses/workshops/club days.

During 2024 many members learnt how to use social media, stay in touch with family and friends, online banking and much more through attending the clubs courses with other seniors for mobile phones and other computer devices.

GETTING THE MOST OUT OF YOUR ANDROID SMARTPHONE
ANDROID SMARTPHONES - PART 1
(If you have an IPhone this course is NOT for you – see website for further details)

You have an Android Smartphone (Samsung, Oppo, Nokia, Huawei, etc) and would like to use it to its full potential!

Come join our “Android Smartphone” classes – 2 hours per week for 5 weeks with one-on-one coaches and a course handbook.

COURSE FEE: $75 plus $35 Tauranga Senior Net Annual membership if not already a member. Fees to be paid 1 week prior to class starting. Online banking or EFTPOS is available at our headquarters at the Historic Village, 17th Ave, Tauranga.
Course numbers are limited. Refer to the website for class timetable and start dates.

COURSE COVERS
• How to make and answer phone calls.
• How to send and receive Text messages
• How to email
• Exploring Apps (applications, eg, Herald, Stuff, Gaspy,
WhatsApp, games etc)
• How to take photos and videos and how to save to your
laptop or computer or USB stick or to send to another device.

We do not cover Facebook in this course.

ANDROID SMARTPHONES Part 2
This 3 week course of 2 hours per week is for those who have completed the Android Smartphone Part 1 course and who want to explore their device in more depth and get their questions answered. Look in the above Timetables menu for course dates and times.

COURSE COST: $45. Fees to be paid 1 week prior to class commencing.
