Starting this evening at the Arataki Community Centre, I am teaching Yin Yoga exploratory for the next 2 weeks as a “taster” class before we dive into a 10-weeks Yin Yoga program. These next 2 weeks classes are perfect for all levels and I especially welcome those who have not experienced the Yin Yoga Practice before to come and try out this deeply nourishing and restorative practice.
Yin Yoga works on the deeper tissues such as the fascia, bones, ligaments, tendons and organs to bring chi or life force energy back into the body.
Yin Yoga is a practice which runs alongside traditional Chinese Medicine and works on acupressure points and meridian lines to help support the release and flow of chi (life force energy), which in Te Reo Māori we call Mauri.

The Yin Yoga is predominant floor-based and therefore a deeply grounding practice. In a 60-minute class the practitioner can expect to hold 6-9 poses for a prolonged period of time. This is sequenced with a specific goal in mind by an experienced yoga teacher.
To become a certified Yin Yoga teacher I have undertaken close to 800Hr of certified teacher training and have taught Yoga for almost 10 years in Australia, South Pacific Island and New Zealand.
To Book your space DM or text: 027 33 88 941.

PSA: Weekly Yin Yoga Classes at the Arataki Community Centre, Zambuk Way, Arataki.

Starting Tuesday 24th March
Time: 7 -8PM
OPEN to all level of experience in Yoga.

Yin Yoga is a predominantly floor-based practice where poses are held for 3 minutes or more. This enables the practitioner to access deeper levels of the body. Yin Yoga works with the fascia in the body to rehydrate and mobilise these tissues, allowing for a release and rejuvenation from within which can be seen in the body through increased mobility an flexibility.
Studies have found the Yin Yoga practice to increase bone density, rehydrate cells which have show improvement in collagen in the body. This is why Yin Yoga has been given the title of the “Yoga of Youthfulness”.

The first 2 weeks of Yin Yoga being offered are “Taster” Classes, especially for those who have not experienced the Yin practice before. This will set you up for a 10-week Block being offered from Tuesday 21st April.

You will learn the 3 principles of the Yin Yoga practice; the right props required to the practice; how the practice can be tailored specific for the needs of your body, to experience the most beneficial practice for each individual person.

Looking forward to inviting back familiar faces to our space an welcoming in new practitioners.
As the saying goes: “Yin really is IN”.

“E kau ki te tai ē!”

Now more than ever as Indigenous people, as Māori.
The pathway forward, is together, as one.
To still the waters, that try to drown us.
For we will never be drowned.
We are people of the seas.
The seas hold the memories which when we immerse ourselves, and we remember that nothing, no system, can ever take from us. Our worth. Our sovereignty.
We are forever.
We remain.
We are eternal.
We are free.

We GO this Thursday before sunrise 🙏🏼

Nau Mai, Haere Mai, to all the women out there looking for a safe space to connect with yourself and heal your whare tangata, you sacral space - the space where we hold absolute power and knowing, to unlocking our full potential and healing as women.

I have been called to open up this space and invite anyone who this resonates with.
We will meet at the Hartford Street Carpark at 5:45 and hikoi down to the beach to sit in circle for a guided practice before finishing with an ocean plunge.

Bring something to sit on, swim in, keep warm during circle and dry off after your ocean plunge. Hot tea or water is a nice extra.

Looking forward to meeting you and sharing space.

Where darkness fades into light 🌅
