Thanks to a creative genuis of one of our senior registered nurses, the Tauranga Emergency Department has taken a novel approach to spreading some Christmas cheer this year! 🎄

The photos of our ED staff, who are all leaning inside a Christmas decorated cardboard box in our ED courtyard, were all then put together in this creative collage.

The Tauranga ED team and all our staff would like to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a happy, safe holiday season. ❤️

The children at a Tauranga early learning centre are proud to show off their pearly whites after coming first in our annual oral health challenge. 🦷 🧒

Early learning centres across the Western Bay were invited to take part in the annual World Oral Health Day Challenge - organised by our Oral Health Promotion team.

Tot Spot Early Learning Centre in Greerton is this year’s winner. The top three placings were:

1st - The Tot Spot Early Learning Centre
2nd - Arataki Kindergarten
3rd - Above and Beyond Tauriko

The theme for World Oral Health Day 2024 was “A Happy Mouth Is … A Happy Body” and early learning centres were encouraged to show how they incorporated this theme in their submission.

Oral Health Promoter, Nicole D’cruz says the standard of entries received this year exceeded their expectations.

“A round of applause to everyone who entered and to our three winners; we appreciate the hard work all centres put in towards the challenge. Ka pai te mahi,” she says.

Our Bay of Plenty stroke team has been recognised for delivering outstanding patient care. ❤️

The team has been recognised for having the lowest seven-day mortality rates across the country at a recent National Stroke Network meeting.

“This means that across the motu, if you have a stroke in Bay of Plenty, you are more likely to be alive, living at home and independent," says Dr Jane Molloy, Neurologist/stroke SMO.

“We know that it is our organised stroke unit care that saves lives from stroke. It is great to see the impact of this for our patients."

It has now been a year since the opening of Te Whare o Tāne-Te-Wananga Acute Stroke Unit (ASU) at Tauranga Hospital, which provides a specialised, multidisciplinary approach to treating stroke patients that has been shown to reduce the risk of death and disability.

Ka rawe, team!
