In life, we often find ourselves caught between two extremes β the weight of yesterday and the fear of tomorrow. We replay old mistakes, feel guilt over things we cannot undo, and at the same time, we exhaust ourselves with anxiety over what might happen next.
But the truth is simple:
The past is done. The future is uncertain. The only power you have is in the present moment.
In the Buddhist perspective, this quote reflects the core teaching of mindfulness β being fully aware and present in the now. Regret is attachment to the past, while worry is attachment to the future. Both are distractions that rob us of inner peace.
ποΈ Buddha taught that suffering comes from clinging β to what was, or to what we fear might be. But peace comes from letting go.
You cannot drive forward while staring in the rear-view mirror. And no amount of mental stress can guarantee or prevent the future.
πΈ So instead of drowning in regret or anxiety, choose this moment.
πΈ Breathe. Accept. Act mindfully.
πΈ Heal what you can, and release what you can't.
Because life is not happening yesterday or tomorrow β itβs happening now.
