Today, we pause to remember and honour those who served and sacrificed for our country. On ANZAC Day, we reflect on the courage and resilience that continue to shape who we are today.

At Pacific Lakes Village, we take a moment to come together in remembrance — to acknowledge the past, honour the present, and share in a quiet gratitude for the freedoms we enjoy.

Lest we forget.

Residents at Pacific Lakes Village stepped onto the runway this past weekend for a very special charity fashion show. After 10 weeks of training, 12 ladies and three gents perfected their walk, twirl and pose before confidently taking to the catwalk.

In front of a crowd of more than 160 guests, the resident models showcased outfits from Mount Maunganui boutiques including Black Pepper, Hilary Pointon Fashion, Status Clothing, Bettie Monroe, Magazine Designer Clothing and Robertson’s Menswear.

For many, stepping onto the runway was well outside their comfort zone. As resident Mike Rudd joked, “I thought dentists and women were my two scary things, but now I’m adding being a model.”

The event raised funds for the Cancer Society and was a wonderful afternoon filled with fun, confidence and community spirit. As organiser Jill Cotter said, the message is simple — whatever age you are, you can do it.

The name Ranfurly is indelibly linked with New Zealand rugby tradition. However, the man who donated a shield to the New Zealand Rugby Football Union that bears his name today, was also a humanitarian, championing the dignity and selflessness of those who had served in the defence of the Empire.

Yesterday, Pacific Lakes Village celebrated a major milestone with the official opening of the Pavilion, setting a new benchmark for retirement living.

Designed by architects Peddlethorp with interiors by Studio Space, the impressive 2,500m² architectural centrepiece overlooks the lakes and is set to become the social heart of village life. Inside, residents can enjoy a café, brasserie and lounge bar, versatile spaces for events and performances, an art studio, library and billiards room. The wellness suite offers a salon, nail spa and treatment room, with a hydrotherapy pool and fitness studio planned for Spring 2026.

The Honourable Tama Potaka, Māori Development Minister and Associate Minister of Housing officially opened the Pavilion, addressing around 500 people, including residents, local leaders and partners.

Thanks to everyone involved in helping us bring this world-class amenity to life.
