Building awareness and confidence in accessible travel with Air New Zealand

Recently, our team – Garry Stanners and Simon Clare – joined forces with Lee Taniwha from Care Upfront and Sally Barkman from Spinal Support to run a series of sessions with Air New Zealand’s front-of-house crew.

Across four workshops, we explored what travel looks like for people who use wheelchairs and mobility equipment – from the real-world challenges they face at airports to the costs, equipment, and care required to travel safely .

It was a chance to build empathy, share lived experience, and help shape a more confident, inclusive approach to supporting travellers with disabilities.

We’re proud to partner with organisations like Air New Zealand that are actively investing in accessibility and inclusion. Small changes in awareness can make a big difference in experience – and that’s something worth celebrating.

Oceania Seating Symposium Day One

What a day! The team have not stopped connecting with what has been a bigger than expected group of wheelchair and seating specialists. If this is day one we cannot wait for days two and three.

What happened:
- beautiful and moving Mihi whakatau to open the symposium
- fascinating
and insightful keynote address from Umi Asaka “Wheeling Across Borders”
- over 350 attendees pouring through the exhibition hall starting at our stand for gifts of lollies, slide gloves and goniometers, necessary tools of the trade
- delicious refreshments to keep energy high
- our very own Fabrys Fréchette from Physipro demonstrating the NeoX tilt-n-space chairs on stage
- over 20 educational and engaging sessions from the highest calibre of industry specialists
