Our Story
Hi welcome to KS Massage Therapy. Let me introduce myself, tell you about my training, my clinic and the type of treatments I do.
I was fortunate enough to grow up with very open minded parents and muscle testing (kinesiology) homeopathy (which I love and have a huge respect for) and herbal medicine were just part of our upbringing. My Dad was a instructor in Martial Arts and was trained in pressure points (for nose bleeds etc) and meridians which he taught me as a teenager.
The first course I trained in was Reiki (1st degree qualification), then I decided to do a night course in natural therapies to see if it was something I was interested in making a career of. The night course gave me the inspiration to further continue training.
I then trained at the Waikato Institute of Technology in Natural Therapies (neuromuscular massage, herbal medicine, homeopathy and nutrition). My passion was for massage and herbs and this is the avenue I went further down.
In my early years I was fortunate to work under the umbrella of some fantastic practitioners and meet some amazing therapists. I gained a wealth of valuable knowledge from them and like the fresh faced 21 year old I was like a sponge, soaking up the knowledge. I will be forever thankful to them for this.
Over the years I did various holistic courses, Bach flowers, hot stones and then I did my certificate in Pregnancy massage and went on to complete my diploma in pregnancy massage (with distinction) in 2013.
Pregnancy massage provided a new dimension to my clinic and new clients. I am extremely passionate about pregnancy massage and always feel honoured to be working with an expectant mother.
My treatments vary from client to client. When you arrive in the clinic you will fill out a client form and we will discuss your treatment and what your aims and goals are. (Rest assured that if you are booked for an hour massage you will get an hour massage, the clock doesnāt start until you are on the table). I believe in treating the body as a whole and if my clients have questions on herbs, supplements etc. I am happy to discuss this with them and write down my recommendations.
The majority of my work is therapeutic and deep tissue (apart from my pregnancy massage). I work with clients from migraine sufferers, RSI, injuries, chronic muscular pain, sciatica issues to name just a few.
When I am massaging and I feel an energy block I will do some energy clearing work, if I feel a chakra is unbalanced I will balance it. I do this all while I am massaging and clients are usually unaware as its very subtle.
I have a wealth of knowledge in the natural therapies industry and I am always happy to share anything I know which can help you. I know a lot of great talented practitioners in the field and can always point you in the right direction if need be.
I am also a wife and mother of two beautiful boys.
