Most people haven’t heard of DMI therapy… but the results speak for themselves.

At NextStepNZ, we use Dynamic Movement Intervention (DMI) as part of our training to help kids build strength, coordination, and confidence in a way that’s engaging, purposeful, and tailored to them.

DMI works by challenging the body to respond to movement in new ways — helping improve:
✔️ Head and trunk control
✔️ Balance and stability
✔️ Functional movement skills
✔️ Independence in everyday activities

It’s not about “one-size-fits-all” therapy — every session is adapted to meet the child exactly where they’re at, while gently pushing them toward what’s possible.

The best part? You can actually *see* the progress happening in real time.

If you’ve been wondering what the next step could look like for your child — this might be it.

Look at that. 🔥
Progress isn't always loud — but sometimes it looks exactly like this.
From wherever you're starting, we build you toward moments like this one. Strong, capable, confident in your body again.
That's the NextStep way!

Some of the best work happens right here.
A machine, a gym, and a coach who actually knows what they're doing with both.
This is what rehab-informed exercise looks like in practice — not generic programmes, not guesswork. Just a real plan built around you.
If you've been told to "just rest it" and nothing's changed, it might be time to try a different approach!

The details matter.
Watching a great coach work is something else — the attention, the adjustments, the genuine investment in getting it right.
Our clients don't just get a programme. They get a coach who shows up for every rep, every session, every step forward.
If you've struggled to find somewhere that takes your situation seriously, we'd love to show you what's possible!

This isn’t your average gym session.
Electrical muscle stimulation, specialist coaching, and a space built for people who need more than a standard programme.
We work with clients managing neurological conditions, chronic pain, disabilities, and everything in between — because everyone deserves access to coaching that actually meets them where they’re at.
This is NextStep! 💪

This is what support actually looks like.

(Not overcomplicated.)
A coach adjusting something mid-session.
A conversation between sets.
Checking in on how something felt.
Changing the plan when needed.
Progress isn’t just about exercises.
It’s about having someone there who actually pays attention.

That’s where the difference is!

02/04/2026

A great session shouldn’t leave you guessing.

You should know:
What you’re doing
Why you’re doing it
And what progress looks like
You should feel:
Supported while you’re there
Confident when you leave
And clear on what comes next
That’s what we aim to create every session.

Clarity builds confidence!

You don’t need to be handled.
You need to be coached properly.

A lot of people come in expecting to be treated like they’re fragile.
Careful. Limited. Held back.
But that’s not what builds confidence.
We respect where you’re at.
But we also help you move forward.
With the right level of challenge.
The right level of support.
And a plan that actually progresses.

You’re more capable than you’ve been led to believe!

31/03/2026

Support shouldn’t end when rehab ends.

A lot of people get to the end of physio… and then what?
They’re told they’re “good to go.”
But they don’t feel confident.
They don’t feel strong.
They don’t feel ready.
So they either stop… or try to figure it out alone.
That gap is where a lot of people get stuck.
It’s also where we do our best work.

You shouldn’t have to navigate that stage on your own.

30/03/2026

We listen before we prescribe.

A lot of people have had experiences where they’re given exercises within minutes.
No real understanding.
No real context.
Just a plan.
That’s not how we work.
Before anything else, we want to understand:
What you’ve been through
What’s worked (and what hasn’t)
What you’re actually trying to get back to
Because the right plan only comes after that!

Good coaching starts with listening.

29/03/2026

At NextStep, people should feel 3 things.

They should feel like they belong.
They should feel safe.
And they should feel like they’re actually progressing.

If one of those is missing… something’s off.
A lot of people have experienced environments where they felt:
Out of place.
Uncertain.
Or like they weren’t getting anywhere.
We’ve built NextStep to be the opposite of that!

That’s the standard we hold ourselves to every day.

26/03/2026

Just because progress slowed down… doesn’t mean your story is over.

We meet a lot of people who feel like they’ve “plateaued.”
They’ve done physio.
They’ve tried programs.
They’ve made some progress… then stalled.
That doesn’t mean this is as good as it gets.
It usually just means the next phase needs a different approach!

There is still a next step.
