It’s 10pm and I’ve just dispensed my last script for the day. Thanks everyone for your patience today. Thanks for looking out for one another.
I have a challenge for you, if you’re having a look at your resilience plans.
What did you do well? Celebrate it.
What else do you need to do to make it easier next time?
And here’s the big one:
If it was an earthquake, not just a power outage, where would you be now? Picture the medical centre as an ad hoc Emergency Department, possibly in a state of disrepair. Picture the pharmacy, is it still even there? Viable?
Have YOU got enough tablets that YOU need to stay healthy for the next 14 days?
The medical centre will be too busy looking after the wounded, if they’re even able. Communications will probably be knackered. The pharmacy may not be functional. If it is we’re only stocked for about 3 days of some meds.
Don’t do it tomorrow, when things are still getting back on their feet, but do it and do it soon: evaluate your position regarding medicines.
Don’t leave it til the last minute. Build up a 2 week buffer and maintain it. ALWAYS organise more meds when you have 2 weeks to go.
We can look after the emergency stuff, if YOU take responsibility for YOUR stuff.
This isn’t a rant, everyone has been awesome today. Just a heads up which I was going to write months ago, but never got around to it - so I’m guilty too. X❤️
