As you may be aware, Manage My Health has confirmed that a cyber security incident took place at the end of December where some patient documents on its platform were accessed. The breach has been contained and their systems are working normally.

WHAT MANAGE MY HEALTH IS DOING:
* Identified that 6-7% of users are affected (approx 110,000 people)
* Fixed the security gap, and tested it with independent cybersecurity experts
* Added additional security layers to logins
* Re-secured all health document with strengthened storage
* Pursuing legal action against the offenders
* Working closely with independent cyber security specialists, the Privacy Commissioner, the New Zealand Police and Health New Zealand regarding the data breach
WHAT WE'RE DOING:
* Taking advice from our own IT security provider ensuing our systems are safe and secure.
* Awaiting response from Manage my Health to determine if any of our patients' data was involved and to obtain clarity around how this will be communicated.
WHAT YOU CAN DO:
* Manage my Health are confident that the breach has been contained, but for peace of mind you could change your password and enable two factor authentication (2FA) including biometrics if available.
WHAT'S NEXT:
* Manage my Health with be communicating directly with affected patients from early this week.
* An 0800 number and boosted user support will be rolled out this week - more information to follow.
