✈️🌍 Finally I have a date‼️
Plans got delayed a bit, I’m still here for 3.5 weeks!
I’ll be back for a few days in May and probably a week in September, dates to be confirmed.

Second session for this handsome fella today.
Please note I am supporting his twist and the unraveling after release - I have not forced him into this position whatsoever, he put himself into his contracted shape to make the release possible.
Bending to the left is a big issue for him as you can imagine, take a look at the very bulgy 4th, 5th and 6th vertebrae…
There was a nasty twist in his tail as well, with both gone, his neck and lumbar area should relax nicely and be feeling a lot better soon 🦄

We often think of a horse’s tail as a beautiful cascade of hair — something to groom, brush, and plait to perfection. Yet its true role in balance and movement is often overlooked.

The tail is made up of 17–21 caudal vertebrae and is very much alive with sensory information. It plays a vital role in direction, balance, movement, and the timing of the breath within movement.

The very first adjustment the body makes when changing direction begins with the tail. A subtle shift to the left initiates a left turn, allowing the body to balance and stabilise before transitioning again. All six directions of movement are orchestrated through the tail to support balance and coordination.

When the tail is free from pressure, restriction, or torsion, it gently bounces as the horse walks or trots, shifting only when direction changes. This movement is counter-timed with the xiphoid process gliding against the diaphragm, allowing the breath to synchronise with motion — an essential element for speed, agility, and jumping.

A sudden impact to the tail, such as from a float door or a fall, can disrupt this entire balancing system. When this happens, the horse may struggle to balance naturally in one direction, compensate by falling in on the circle, and lose confidence. With the breath no longer timing correctly, refusals and hesitation can follow — not from behaviour, but from the body’s natural stabilising processes being compromised.

At Equine ConTact CARE, we look for the cause behind the effect. Tail impacts are a common contributor to imbalance and instability in the horses we see.

The tail is not just a bunch of hair — it is a rudder for equilibrium through movement

‼️2026 - I’ll be gone for most of the year!! ‼️
From March onwards I will spend most of the year overseas!! 🌍

The year of the horse will take me on a bit of a ride 🐎🤩 I’m looking forward to meeting new people and cultures, taking ConTact C.A.R.E and my Handreading with me and finishing my book 🙏

I’ll be back in NZ every now and then and will post available dates on here - message me if you would like to go on the DM list to be the first to know!

I recommend you book in dates for January rather soon if you’d like to see me before I trot off 🙏🤗

My Story

I have been massaging since 2006 when I started studying Physiotherapy in Germany. After graduating I worked at a high end practice doing general physio as well as Manual Therapy, Trigger Point Therapy, PNF etc... In our affiliated gym I was in charge of Personal Training and offered classes in Senior Fitness, Post Surgery Rehab and Back and Pelvic Floor Strengthening. I have been in New Zealand since early 2010 and as my degree is unfortunately not recognised here I decided to become a full time massage therapist. Since then I've been working mobile, for the YMCA Gym Ellerslie, for an award winning Chiropractor in Takanini, Westbury/Te Hihi Estate and assisted at various Crossfit events. I live in Te Kauwhata and at the moment I am working mobile only.
