We’re looking for someone special to join our Tūāpapa whānau✨

Kia ora koutou,

We are excited to be re-advertising our Tūāpapa AOD Rangatahi role. This is a meaningful opportunity for someone who feels called to walk alongside our rangatahi, supporting and empowering them through alcohol and other drug education.

If you have a passion for kaupapa Māori, uplifting rangatahi, and strengthening our communities, this role could be for you. Joining our hauora means becoming part of a supportive, values-driven team that is committed to manaakitanga, whakawhanaungatanga, and positive change.

All details about the role, requirements, and how to apply are included in the flyer attached.

📞 Interested or know someone who might be?
Please reach out to Carl, his contact details are on the flyer below.

Order details noted at the bottom of this post

Piata Mai Anō the new sequel to the beloved Piata Mai (2013) shares 29 heartfelt stories from Matakana Island kaumatua and kuia, all aged 80+. Their stories—told in their own words—capture a way of life shaped by whānau, whenua, hardship, humour, and deep cultural strength.

From wise reminders that “your health is your wealth” to the unfiltered joy of laughter shared, these reflections paint a vivid portrait of island life across generations. Each vignette preserves not just memories, but the wairua of those who lived them—stories of resilience, mischief, aroha, and the unique rhythms of growing up on Matakana.

This book is a taonga for descendants, a treasure for the wider community, and a rare window into an era fast disappearing. Whether you have a personal connection to the island or simply value the voices of our elders, this collection offers warmth, insight, and a strong sense of belonging.

Due to an overwhelmingly positive response - please email Awhina White directly via email at at waingakia.ruatoria@xtra.co.nz to purchase a copy (or copies) of this beautiful book
