Act early — little ears need quick care.

Smelly or leaky ears aren’t normal. Ongoing or untreated ear infections can affect hearing, speech, learning and behaviour.

If a child has ear pain, discharge, reduced hearing, fever or is tugging at their ears, see your GP or our Ear Nurse as soon as possible. Early treatment helps protect hearing and prevent long-term problems.

Sarah, our wonderful Ear Nurse, recently visited St Joseph's School in Pleasant Point to chat with the children about World Hearing Day.

She talked about how our ears work, why it’s important to look after our hearing and ears, the value of having ears checked, and simple ways to protect our hearing every day.

A big thank you to St Joseph’s for welcoming Sarah — we love being out in our community helping young people learn how to care for their ears!

It’s Tinnitus Awareness Week!
Ringing, buzzing, hissing or other noises in your ears? You’re not alone. Tinnitus affects millions of people worldwide and can have a real impact on sleep, concentration and quality of life. The good news is that help is available and there are many ways to reduce the impact of tinnitus.

Key Facts About Tinnitus:
• Tinnitus affects around 10-20% of people worldwide.
• Common triggers include exposure to loud noises, aging, head or neck injuries, and stress.
• While there’s currently no instant cure, there are many ways to help manage symptoms and improve quality of life.

During Tinnitus Awareness Week (2 – 8 February), we’re raising awareness and encouraging anyone experiencing ongoing ear noise to seek advice. A hearing assessment and personalised management plan can make a meaningful difference.
