With Woman Midwifery

With Woman Midwifery With Woman Midwifery provides one on one maternity care to women in the South Waikato region. Each woman’s pregnancy and birth journey are unique to them.

Therefore, care is individually planned with you and tailored to meet your health, pregnancy, and cultural needs. The role of the midwife is to provide safe and effective care to support you and your family through the pregnancy journey, providing education and care in all aspects of pregnancy, birthing and early parenting. Your Care
With Woman Midwifery offers care from early pregnancy through-ou

t the antenatal period, during the birth and up to six weeks postnatal. It is recommended that you find a midwife as soon as possible to ensure availability. Ideally, we meet within the first ten weeks of pregnancy for a booking visit. This visit is can be up to an hour long and gives us opportunity to get to know each other, review your health history, explore your options, and organise any scans and tests. After that we usually meet:
• Every four weeks until 28 weeks
• Fortnightly until 36 weeks
• Weekly from 36 weeks until birth
• After the birth: 3 – 4 home visits in the first week then usually once a week until 4-6 weeks, or as required. Family members are welcome to attend the appointments with you. For women who work or have partners who work, where possible an early evening appointment can be made for the main visits during your pregnancy.

A precious little boy was born yesterday evening, he was very stunned by his rapid entrance into the world and needed lots of help with his breathing. With help and support from the wonder staff midwife and student midwife, we kept Bubba safe, until the chopper arrived with a specialist team. Mum and Dad, you were amazing, as hard as it was, you stayed strong and let us do our job. My love to you all.

Spent the early hours of the morning at a birth, followed by clinic and postnatal visits. Time for bed, just in case the next baby decides to have a birthday. But before I do I just wanna say, well done momma, your second VBAC went so smoothly and your little princess is beautiful.

I am delighted to announce that Sarah will be joining me in Aug-Nov for a clinical placement. Midwives only become midwives through learning and experience. There is only so much you can learn from books and lectures, the real learning is walking alongside women through their journey, seeing first hand that womans progression to motherhood as they walk the same path as a midwife. Students offer so much, they are eager to part of the process and in labour's they offer so much support to women and their families. I hope that you will welcome Sarah to be part of your journey, she would be very honored, however, it is OK to decline her involvement in your care if you do not feel comfortable.

Sarah, I'm very excited to have you with me.
