We are so proud of Sarah Wright who recently completed a very intense 3 month qualification in oncology rehabilitation - specifically for people over 65. If you have been diagnosed with any form of cancer then Sarah can see you before, during and after your treatment. Exercise can help you cope with treatment better and help you get back to doing what you love after treatment. There can also be many complications of cancer treatment so working with somebody who understands these is essential to keep you safe. Exercise can also keep you stronger for longer if you are living with cancer and Sarah is able to support you along this journey. To book in with Sarah contact our office on 0800 000 856. If you are unable to afford private physiotherapy, then we have options for fully funded treatments via the Pinc and Steel Foundation.

If you have been hesitating about booking into our monthly Pelvic Health Physio clinic then today is your lucky day! Because of staff sickness today's clinic was postponed until next Monday. The following clinic won't be until later in August so if you are contemplating then you have an extra few days to book in. We know that issues with incontinence are so common post menopause and it can be such a sensitive topic to discuss that people don't realise how much they could benefit from some expert advice. Bethany is a fabulous physio, highly experienced and very comfortable (and comforting!) discussing all sorts of pelvic issues. So take back control and book in with her for next Monday by calling 0800 000 856 or emailing admin@onthegophysio.co.nz.

This is UK based but a great little snippet about the often unknown issue of ageism. As you know our whole focus is older adults and every day we see people defying what is 'expected' by building strength, bouncing back from injury and loving life!

On receiving the news in 1986 about needing to be gluten free to control my dermatitis herpetiformis, I immediately joined Coeliac New Zealand. This was the best thing I could have done, and my “Ingredient List” booklet accompanied me on every visit to the supermarket for quite some time. There ...

COVID cough. When you have an old fashioned chest infection (remember those days!) then a good cough can help shift and clear your chest. A COVID cough is a different story altogether - it is an irritable cough that has no use and it can persist long after other symptoms. Once you start coughing it can be hard to control. If you are struggling with an ongoing cough then try these tips to supress it.
1) a cough lolly, wee bit of honey, even just a hard sweet can be very helpful.
2) "stop the cough" - when you feel it coming put your hand on your closed mouth and swallow strongly, then breathe gently through your nose until the urge has passed.
3) sip on warm water frequently and if you think the urge to cough is coming.
4) change your position - especially at night - sitting or sleeping in a propped up position may help.
We are now seeing people in their COVID recovery phase. If you would like support with managing fatigue and other symptoms then please give us a call on 0800 000 856 and book in with one of our physio team.

So many of our Older Adults are currently staying at home in order to stay safe from COVID. This can have a knock on effect of decreasing the amount of physical activity a person has which can be the tipping point for many in terms of becoming frail and increasing their risk of falls. These exercises can make a big difference - share with anyone you know over 65 who may be getting out and about less. (And, by the way, even if you are under 65 they'll be good for you too!!)
