DGS GATHERING SEPTEMBER 21st/22nd 2024
Welcome and Introduction
DGS Committee
“Sneeze but don’t scatter”
An overview of the 1918 Spanish Flu pandemic by Dr. Penny Walters
Dr. Walters will take us through how the Influenza Epidemic of 1918-1919 affected ordinary people with evidence from genealogical research, statistical records and other sources including Civil records and case studies.
This promises to be a fascinating talk, by a highly respected lecturer, about a subject very relevant to the modern era. There will be an opportunity for members to submit questions.
We will follow this with a short presentation by Karen Preston:
“More Dalton Victims of the Spanish Flu”
A brief look at the Daltons who died of the flu in 1918-1919, submitted by DGS members.
Our final presentation will be by Bill Read and Gary Skillet:
“Daltons from Ireland to India”
This promises to give a fascinating insight into the family history of two of our members
We hope that you will join us! Below is a reminder of the start times around the world:
