🎉 A Very Special Celebration at Bupa Tararu! 🎉

We've had the absolute honour of celebrating our beautiful Jenny’s 100th birthday!

The day was made even more memorable with special appearances by Thames Mayor Len Salt, who not only joined the celebration but also treated us to some wonderful music, and a talented local piper who added a special touch of tradition.

A heartfelt thank you to Tararu's incredible activities team for organising such a meaningful day for Jenny and all our residents. It's not every day we get to mark such an extraordinary milestone! ❤️

🧡 Massive shout out to the amazing team at Bupa Willowbank! 🧡

Their generosity has truly made a difference — together, they’ve donated 152 winter pyjamas for tamariki in the Hawke’s Bay! 🧒❄️👕

Thanks to your kindness, 152 children will be warmer, cosier, and cared for this winter. What an incredible way to show community spirit and support!

The “A Team” at Bupa Totara Gardens is Making a Difference!

Residents Harold, Jack, Gordon, Barry, and Robin – aka the “A Team” – have built two fantastic outdoor mud kitchens for Te Kamo Primary School, encouraging creative, messy play!

Part of the Totara Gardens Resident Workshop, Jack, as former joiner, led the design, with timber kindly donated by L M Consulting.

The workshop now has around 20 members and is looking to expand with more tools for future community projects. Watch this space!

One Small Cup, One Big Impact! 🌍

On World Environment Day, we’re proud to celebrate a small change making a big difference.

A stainless-steel medicine cup trialled at Bupa Parklands Care Home could save 720,000 plastic cups from landfill each year.

As part of our Better World strategy and the Single-Use Switch Program, we’re replacing 29 disposable clinical items with sustainable alternatives by 2027 — including medicine cups, torniquets, cheek retractors, and kidney dishes.

With a successful trial complete, this safe and durable cup will now be rolled out nationally.

They loved meeting over 65 alpacas (including rare blue-black Suris!) near the beautiful Catlins!

Massive shout out to the 150 tamariki from Totara Grove School and the residents from Bupa Totara Gardens who teamed up last week to plant 450 native trees at the Tikipunga Wetland in Whangarei.

The special event was part of Junior Landcare, a partnership between NZ Landcare Trust and the Bupa Foundation, designed to grow a love for nature in young Kiwis and strengthen bonds across generations.

Big thanks to Whangarei District Council for their support with permissions and planning and Mitre 10 New Zealand for generously donating kids gardening gloves and spades.

From shared stories and planting tips to home baking and laughter, this day was about so much more than trees. It was about connection, aroha, and bringing our communities together.

What a stunning Wellington day to visit our newest development site in Whitby, Porirua!

This location will eventually become home to a thriving Bupa community, with 138 villas, 34 apartments, and a 46-bed care home. It’s exciting to see the vision starting to take shape with significant earthworks well underway.

🐴☕ Morning Tea with Horses ☕🐴

Residents from Bupa Northhaven Care Home enjoyed a heartwarming visit to a local horse stable, where they met Honeypuff, Desine, and Bella. They learned about the horses, had the chance to feed and pat them, and then relaxed with a delicious morning tea spread in the stables.

A perfect mix of connection, learning, and sweet treats! 💛

🌟 Yesterday we celebrated International Nurses Day! 🌟

This year’s theme — “Our Nurses. Our Future: Caring for nurses strengthens economies” — is a powerful reminder of how important it is to look after the health and wellbeing of our nurses. When we support our nurses, we build stronger healthcare systems and more resilient communities.

To honour the day, we invited our nurses to wear something red — a cape or outfit — in recognition of Florence Nightingale, the founder of modern nursing. The red cape is a symbol of the everyday superheroes they truly are. 🦸‍♀️❤️

From all of us at Bupa, a massive Ngā mihi to nurses everywhere. Thank you for everything you do — your care, compassion and courage never go unnoticed. 💙
